Well. there were some issues with the paint that I wasn't happy with, so into the pond it went.
A little filler and light sanding and it will be ready for attempt #2.

Not real fond of having that happen either. I've been having problems with the 66 Merc I'm working on. I should have done that as well, but I'm ready to move on to something else, so I'm going to let my flaws fly, lol.

Thanks guys.
The flaws were not huge, but I knew that it was something that was going to bug me infinitum, so I decided that I needed to do it over.
The problem was that against my better judgement, I decided that I would use my old Badger air brush For a heavier final color coat. (my Creos PS-290 sprays a finer, but much wider pattern)
The Badger brush has a higher paint flow when opened up, but it is also a narrow pattern.
As a result, I wound up with some color variation due to the spray overlap that was not evident until I began the clear coats.
If you look closely in these photos, you can see the "splotchy" or "striped" variations.
Not terrible, but enough to know that I would never be happy with it.
I will not make this mistake again and will be certain to use a lighter and wider pattern for the final color coat in the future.

Paint job number 2 is underway
I decided to try a base of Duplicolor garnet red to try to darken the color a bit.
It doesn't appear to have changed the color much, but it's okay.
I'm happy with the color anyway.
Just have to wait for my shipment of Scale Finishes Sunfire Red so I can give it a couple more light coats of color to finish up.

Final color coat is finished as well as the scripts.
So far, I'm noticing no splotches or stripes in the paint, but then again, I didn't see any in the previous color coats either.
The test will be after the first clear coat which hopefully will take place this evening.

Let's cross our fingers this time.
Thank you.
2 clear coats applied and no sign of the same issue returning.
I'm thinking I'm in the clear.

I've seen the issue you're talking about on real cars. Many metallic paints do that. I don't know if I would have noticed if you didn't say anything. But that's what helps make us perfectionists!

I believe that the paint is now acceptable.
All clear coats are applied and the body is ready for polishing and foil.

While I wait for the clear to cure for polishing, it's time to try to make some advancements in other areas.
Sprayed the chassis plate some days ago, and today, masked the chassis and sprayed the gas tank with Alclad aluminum, followed by masking the tank and spraying the straps with Alclad dark aluminum.
