Just wanted to let everyone know I haven't forgotten about this build. I have all the parts I needed to cast done and now I'm waiting for some paint that I ordered so I can continue on. Here's all I have done so far which is not much. Primer Ok, I'll just add here instead of double posting.... I've got the headers done in black and silver and haven't really decided which way to go. The engine bay is going to be black so I'm thinking that the silver might stand out more once it's in the car. What do you guys think?

Here's a quick update on the seat for who's interested. I decided that I'd just use the band saw and it worked out great because it took out more plastic than cutting with an exacto blade. Here's the seat after sanding down the bottom to make it the same height as the buckets. Next is to put the backs on and clean them up. Before After Here are a few pics showing the steps I took to get this done. Not really anything fantastic but just more of a step by step procedure. Added balsa wood for support in the center. Used balsa because it's real easy to sand. Added putty to fill in the gap between the seat and the backing. Primed and ready to paint Temps this week are forecast to be in the 70's so I'm trying to get the body ready for paint...

All I can say is #&^$(*$ Temps got up to 72 today so it was time to paint the body. Everything has primer and liquid mask for 5 days just waiting to paint. I bought 2 new cans of the Dupli-Color Bright Red for the job which was way to much but I always like to have enough. Anyway, I tack cloth the body and start the first mist spray and noticed that it was coming out a little dotty looking instead of a mist. I got out the other can and put on the second coat and still looks grainy. I figured it would all go away when I put on the wet coat and it did..whew!!!! Now the bad part. I start to take off the tape and liquid mask and what do you think....the paint and primer come off with it. I can not for the life of me figure out what's going on. I've painted literally hundreds of RC jets using the same kind of tape and brand of liquid mask and never, never had this happen. The only thing that has changed is the brand of primer and paint which is both Dulpi-Color. In the good old days I used real lacquer paint and regular Walmart primer. Here are a few pics of it....excuse me while I go to the pond Oh, I just thought of something. This happened before when using white primer...you IDIOT!!!!!

Did you wetsand the primer to scuff it up a little so the color coats would stick to it better?

Yes, I wet sanded it just like I would of any paint before a clear coat. Here we go again. All ready to paint as soon as the weather permits.

Hope you get better results this time around. Did you switch to grey primer this time?
