Well Sunday was even a bit warmer so I was able to get the red on the body. I started removing all the liquid mask and everything is looking good. I started to remove some from the window trim and noticed that the red trim around the windows didn't look to bad. But since Grumpy's had chrome, I'll have to do it in chrome with with Alclad or maybe I'll try the BMF again. Here's a pic of what it looks like so far and with the red trim which will be coming off.

Very nice, wish my masking jobs would come out that good.

Very nice, wish my masking jobs would come out that good. Thanks. I try to use the liquid mask as much as possible when doing the body because tape never seems to hold especially around curves and I always get some bleeding. Liquid Mask works wonders in those areas but it is more work.

I note in my mind the using of the liquid mask. Nice paint job!

Good weather coming up so I decided to get some decals on and then give it a nice clear coat. Here's a couple pics, one with flash and the other with no flash. First time I've put a decal on around a curve and they sure don't like it. The G in Grumpy's Toy right at the top goes on the curve and even though it's just a slight one, it kept sticking up. Micro Sol fixed it though but I may have to hit a couple other ones that look like they might be a problem later.

Off with the old and on with the new. Micro Sol nor Solvaset had any effect on it at all so I took it off and put a new one on. I thought that Micro Sol would soften up the decal but I couldn't move it even with a lot of pressure with a Q-Tip. Here's a couple pics of the final decal work with everything except for the ones that go on the windows. Suppose to get up to 80 today so maybe I'll get some clear on this thing. Here's a pic of what Micro Sol did and it could not be fixed.

Got the rest of the decals on and then noticed one of them is not in the right place but it's not that far off so it stays. Here's a shot before the clear goes on today. Also got the badges on.

Great work! Decal is not so easy, it is depend of lot thing... Thank to Micro Sol! I use also Micro Set which is less strong than the Micro Sol for the plane surface. (Sorry for my translation) Or may be a first layer of coat before the decal gluing is a good idea.
Good continuation on this likely project.

This is a nice build, allways like the grumpy. And as for the Micro So (IT'S DODO) I use Model Master decal solvent it works the best.

Yes flip, I considered putting on a coat of clear before the decals but I of course was in a hurry. Actually, in that close-up pic of the decal showing how bad the paint was is sort of deceiving, It was wet sanded and felt smooth as silk but still showed the orange peel. Hopefully a good wet sanding and polishing of the clear will get rid of some of that? Baddgas, I'll try some of that next time because none of the Micro-Sol Micro-Set or Solvaset did anything to help. Maybe the Slixx decals are tougher, thicker or something.

Yes, normally with two layers of clear sanded and polished your paint and decal will be great. Take care during the sanding... Let's go!!!! Flip
