Well sometimes ya just feel like a 'Vette. After finishing the Dew Buick I was looking for something different so this old kit jumped out at me. I've had it in the stash for many years and I've always like mid year 'Vettes so here we go.. Not sure exactly where I'm going to go with it yet. Going to use the fuelie mill for sure (queue the Beach Boy's Shut Down)Maybe a day two kind of thing..we'll see.

The more I look at it, the more its apparent it will need a lot of work to get to the real item...its a completely different body to start with, look at the grille and overall proportions. And the fairing on the hood needs to extend way back but I suppose that would necessitate cutting into the body and spoil the plan for retaining the stock option. So that will have to be done and the existing fairing either extended rearward or just gotten rid of altogether and replaced with one that does extend back to the windscreen line. Still, its better than nothing and what is here is a nice thin casting. jb Sounds like an ambitious project for sure. looking forward to see how you run with it.

Toy or not looks like with a little work it should build up to a nice model of a historic subject. It would be cool to build a same scale P 51D to "escort" it. Those pesky ME109's you know.

Clean and crisp, excellent well detailed representation of an iconic period Super Stocker. Well done!

I'm going to watch this. Any custom or speed parts going into it? I've owned a 55 Bel Air since 1969 and wish I could build a 1/16 version. Paul AMT made one. Not sure of kit or speed parts availability though.

First please don't feel like you don't belong here. All modellers are welcome to this forum regardless of their perceived level of experience and or skill. We have many good members here that are always glad to help a fellow modeller. That said, I personally don't have much experience with acrylics but there are a lot of variables that can determine your final results. My rule of thumb is to always make sure the base coat is thoroughly dry before adding subsequent overcoats and I try to use the same manufacturer's paints throughout. So I guess the bottom line here is make sure your base coat is completely dry and use a compatible overcoat. This is just my opinion and hopefully some of the others will jump in with their ideas. HTH.

Coming along nicely and creative reuse of leftover parts. I like the copper color 3 window there in the background of the 1st pic too. Yeah. I like it too. Needs a more traditional engine than the small block Ford Yep that EFI 5.0 is getting a little old. What are you thinking, Flathead, Nailhead, Y Block, SBC, Rocket?
