Going to use Acrylic as the main color , then clear coat . Here's my question : how soon does the clear coat go on after the main color ? In the past use of automotive paints I put it on right after a final sanding of the main color . I believe this is not so with water base colors .
I'm very much a newbie with this water base stuff . After this one is pained I am going back to lacquer .
I know I may not belong here as I am very new to this hobby and you guys are are miles ahead of me .
Thanks for your patience ,

First please don't feel like you don't belong here. All modellers are welcome to this forum regardless of their perceived level of experience and or skill. We have many good members here that are always glad to help a fellow modeller. That said, I personally don't have much experience with acrylics but there are a lot of variables that can determine your final results. My rule of thumb is to always make sure the base coat is thoroughly dry before adding subsequent overcoats and I try to use the same manufacturer's paints throughout. So I guess the bottom line here is make sure your base coat is completely dry and use a compatible overcoat. This is just my opinion and hopefully some of the others will jump in with their ideas. HTH.

Belonging is not based on experience, it's based on the love of the hobby.
What brand of Acrylic are you using? I sometimes use Testers Model Master Acryll dries to touch in a few minutes but full dries in 24 hours. I generally clear it after 24 hours. Thats what works for me. The one thing nice about Testers Acryll is that after a 24 hour dry time it can be sanded and buffed like lacquer.
Tamiya water based paints I always seem to have issues with blotching / cloudiness. I have not tried Valajo or Gunzi Mr Color acrylics. Paul
