One day I noticed that the cross section of the AMT '49 Ford cowl where it curves from horizontal to vertical on the side of the car happened to be the same as the curve on an AMT '36 Ford hood. Then I noticed that the front of the '36 hood, when seen from above, was nearly the same as a '39 Ford grille from the AMT '39-'40 sedan kit. The powertrain is a Toronado engine/trans/diff with a Latham axial supercharger and intake from the AMT '65 Buick Riviera.
The body paint is pearl yellow craft paint over flat yellow model railroad acrylic. The subtle fogging is a mixture of Tamiya clear yellow and clear red acrylics. Many coats of Tamiya TS-13 clear gloss made it smooth and shiny. Much of the bright metal on the engine is Molotow.

Wow that is Kool with a capital "K"! Kind of reminds me of latter day Ed Roth styling with the single wheel up front. Nice visualization and follow through. You've got a good eye for balance. Beautiful underside and belly pan too. My inspiration for the day, seriously!

Thanks, all, for the kind comments. At GSL last week it received fourth place in the Group 23 class (AMT '49 Ford built any way but without "modern" aftermarket or kit parts). There were about ten entries and the awards were based on votes by GSL attendees (not judged as most of the regular classes were).
Hmm, cheppfink...I was hoping that it might receive the Roth award but another goofier and well-deserving entry was chosen instead. My entry was an homage to decades-earlier entries by Russell Cooke who started the 3-wheeled yellow Ford thing at GSL.
My 2017 GSL 3-wheeled yellow Ford entry received the Klingon Kruiser award.

Dog gone it Charley, you scooped me on everything, LOL Congratulations on your GSL win, any placing there is a win, I was a GSL alum in the early 1990s, mailed a model one year (there's a great story behind that, that was also told in a magazine) and I attended 3 times. also more stories behind that (nobody cares about history anymore, LOL) I was gonna tell you about Russell and his three wheelers when you started this project, but didn't want to diminish what you were doing, and you scurvy dog, you already knew. Russell and I were friends for many years, and we used to have a personal small scale friendly rivalry. Day before yesterday, my friend Tim Boyd sent me some pics from GSL that included these, I was excited to hear you attended. He told me Mark was disappointed I didn't come, but my travel partner, Tim Pentecost, passed away 6 years ago, and I've been in a slump ever since, I'm also good friends with John Teresi. Congrats again, Charley! Jim

One of those statements that can be taken SO many ways there Bob. Crazy.... Crazy builds things..... Crazy to build this..... Hey crazy, build something.... Hee hee! Either way, I agree! It's a crazy cool build with a galaxy of imagination in it. Mind-fracturing ideas going on here. From spark, to forest fire, this is IT! Great job man!
