Interesting additions Bob, don't think I've ever seen those before, especially the boat. Like John I'd be interested to know about how that rod scales out and if indeed it morphed into the Drag Strip Hot rod. here's another box version of it - When I first saw it this early Revell effort came to mind. This one is close to 1/32 scale, I don't think they are the same kit?

Guess I just assumed the early Hot Rod was the same as the Drag Strip Hot Rod . . . should never do that .

Did some quick reading and I should have bought those three boxes , they are the very first Monogram plastic models (P1,P2,P3)! Also it sounds like the Hot Rod did morph into the Drag Strip Hot Rod .

Love those store displays Bob 😎😎 and that box art build of the drag strip hot rod. Dude must have used 2 or 3 of the #2 decal to get it that opaque. My 1995 reissue had almost transparent #2s.

This one is close to 1/32 scale, I don't think they are the same kit? Nice box Ron, of the Revell 1/32 Rod. I've never seen that before. I spend a lot of time looking at OldModelKits.com and Alan Bussie has a lot of interesting info on most of the kits listed. He also has some pages related to plastic model kits history, box art artists, etc. www.oldmodelkits.com/blog/plastic-model-kit-history/a-brief-history-of-revell-plastic-model-kits/Unfortunately not much related to our subject matter here, but seeing the box art of your picture, and then seeing this one.... ... hmmm.... Wonder which came first? This Minicraft 4 kit offering, or the single Revell rod. Little bit of info about the Minicraft 4 kit: www.oldmodelkits.com/index.php?detail=37411&searchtext=highway%20pioneers&erl=Minicraft-1-32-Highway-Pioneers-Ex-GowlandRevell-1932-Hot-Rod-1952-MG-TD-1953-Jaguar-1952-Ferrari-1505Love the No cutting- No sanding on the Revell Modern USA Rod kit. May have been added to let the prospective buyers know that they didn't have to carve, or cut or sand any wooden parts, as they had to with the earlier "model kits". All very interesting stuff, thanks guys😊 John

Love the windshield wipers and screaming siren on that friction motor car ! I vaguely remember having something similar when I was very little , probably not the same one though . Also remember a Police car with a siren , it was remote control with a wire and control box that held the D size batteries .

As old as I am, I've never seen one of those Vette kits. I can see somebody using a black fine-line Sharpie to build a Box Art rendition of that!!

I've posted this one before as it's one of my favorites , but have you seen the side panels ? One side panel is the typical drawing with callouts of the different features . . . . . . but the other side panel is this beautiful artwork ! Never seen a box done like this before .
