I am not looking to completely change this forum, but I am looking to make it more fun, more accessible and I need YOU.
So toss me some bones on what you think this forum is missing.
I won't take every idea or maybe I will? lol

I think it's just fine as far as the forum itself goes. Just be nice if more members participated, but that seems to be the norm on the handful of boards that I frequent.

Amen! Builders should resolve to post a few fotos each year and add comments and tips. At "Skid's Place" it was opened up with non vehicle group builds and added planes, ships and buildings to create a bit more interest and participation. If space here isn't a problem, that could help. Mostly, the regulars can do the heavy lifting of posting a bit more if they haven't lately. A new year is a fresh start!

With all the recent discontent I read about with the more "popular" forums I think we're in the position here to grow in a positive way.

We just got some new blood in here, so maybe they'll help out. Everything else is great! Don't change anything!

Echoing what has been said so far, structurally I think the site is just fine as it is. The important thing is to build the volume and depth of commentary. More than anything, that's a function of the makeup and membership of the forum itself. In particular I would remark that over the past year or so there was a strong, sharp decline in any commentary at all by anyone. In many cases members would post a w.i.p. or completion and there would be quite a few that would receive, at most, two or three perfunctory "Attaboys" from the "usual suspects". Which is not to criticize the "usual suspects" - quite the contrary. These were folks who persevered through our "nuclear winter" hoping at least to establish some hooks for discussion and sharing. Nothing wrong with "Attaboys" mind you, sometimes that's all that's required, either because the work shown is sufficiently self-explanatory, or discretion demands it. But I would say the most productive thing any of us can do to build interest and membership, is to actually talk about something when we comment. The more successful sites encourage and foster discussion, the moderators and key members going out of their way to draw out other members by actively participating in various threads.
Bruce (Dogfish 7) has commented in various forums about the seeming quietness of things. I have noticed it, too. The actual site and its "prestige" or "importance" is no guarantee that it will be free from this problem. The cause is the lack of engagement by the forums "leadership" (that nebulous group of moderators, owners and active members) and the result is that things die off quite rapidly. But the good news is the opposite is true, as well. A small increase in actual discourse can lead to large and immediate changes. Just look at what has happened in the last 10 days or so here, as just a few new arrivals have assumed that real engagement was the norm and acted accordingly!
DPMCC has deep roots and a backbone of important contributions to our culture. Let's all resolve to discuss what we and others are doing in our hobby with each other using DPMCC as our, dare I say it, Forum...
Having said that, I don't believe the site needs any real makeover. Too many subcategories encourages separation and segregation of interests and discourages the kind of cross-pollination inherent in a general interest automobile modeling forum. Personally I'm not a big fan of an "everything else" category on an automobile forum, but I understand that many of us have far broader modeling interests than I do (I doubt I've ever built a model of anything that weighed much over 2 tons...). But I'm very much interested on the whole range of vehicle modeling, even if these subjects will never cross my bench. But keep the structure simple and clear.
First and foremost, however, we should foster discussion and enthusiasm for our shared interests wherever and whenever we can, every one of us...

Well said B! I will endeavor to be more enunciated and do a better part. Participating in over a dozen forums, makes it difficult to spend much time on any, as well as post pictures of you current builds. I completed 15 models this last year, that being said. I just need to cut down to my favorites and spend more time on each.

Maybe eliminate the chat 24/7 section? Doesn't seem to be much action there. I clicked on the chat link and it took me back to the DPMCC home page.

I wonder how a figures part would be. Or even figures and accessories like how to build a ladder or magazine or little things like that ? Or scratchbuilding. How you made that cool air filter or bomber seat ?

Trax or Trackable is still a Void for me ?? Thanx .. John, it's TRaK "Traditional Rod and Kustom in scale". Are you saying you can't log in? If that's the case, it's probably the same for many others. Since Proboards changed their format to a newer version, some guys that don't spend a lot of time online with these forums....don't understand how the new one works. If you can, get a universal log in. When you have one, you can just click "log in" if you are already logged into one forum.....and it will automatically put you in.

I put a link to Galleries at the top as per your idea. I just can't put a live revolving display at the top of the page like the examples you gave. I can...but if I did it would get really slow for some members and confusing. I hope you like what I did though!
