Well, things grinding slo on diorama progress. Not only did I injure my knee, Sunday before last, and the bone that goes all the way to my ankle, but I have tackled a home repair job that requires me to work at floor level and below. Not fun !! Ok, pity party is over. My other slodown is on the dio itself. I'm at a point that I want to start landscaping some of the front portion before adding on to the building and going on to the rear.. MY problem is that I don't want the lichen/sawdust look of usual model railroad scenery! I'm half afraid that I may not be able satisfy myself. But here's what I'm trying. This is one of my (neglected) small bonsai. Those weeds at the base of this tree are a common nuisance to us here in Florida (probably elsewhere also). I have pulled some of these, let them dry out and then trying to preserve them by soaking them in really thinned oil based paint. Ya, I know, glycerin is what normally is used to preserve flowers, etc. but I don't have any Treated on towel, dried in left lower forground, and a fresh picked weed in right lower forground. I hope I have enough.... I might have to start a flat of these on purpose! While I'm working on the ground part, I'm still experimenting. "Only God can make a tree" I'm using one of His carcasses that I had previously qualified for the DBS (Dead Bonsai Society). This is gonna take a hell of a lot of weeds!!!

I'm starting to have reservations about this landscaping crap. Firstly, I don't believe I can achieve the degree of 'reality' I want. Secondly, It's not as much fun as building stuff !!! But I'll plug on, a bit at a time, but will start shaving off some of my anal thinking. Like John, I'm taking another lil diversion. Remember the T that started this all out? I have started junking it up a little. It's not gonna be a 'virgin' barn find. Also, you may recall, I took the body and cowl to "play with, before I junked it". I don't have the heart to return it, because that build turned out better'n I thought it would. So now, I have to come up with a cowl for the T. It'll be a homemade one. I used a piece of cardboard (ala Brizio) and added it to the firewall. AHHHHhhh, it's good to be butchering plastic again !

Tree has been planted, gas and water pumps set, screen door hung and the canopy started... whew! The furring strips are a cop out, I used stripwood. Most everything else on the building is cardboard/paper.

Front section needs some stuff in a couple of areas. It'll have to be stuff I can make. Like this keep out sign. Also have started getting another 'barn find' ready. This one I want to be pretty pristine. Time ravaged some, but not all rusted out. Somewhere between showroom and junk.

Are you going to take this one outside, like you have on the others?

This will be more of a true diorama, Dog, rather than a foto backdrop. Likely be stored in a plastic bag when finished

This pretty much takes care of the front. I'll be concentrating on the rear section now.

The 'barn find' is done except for some weathering touchups. Almost a shame to put it in a shed But, here's the start of the shed floor - scribing some wood into another piece of mat board.

I guess your fingers show that you are "full scale" and not 1/25. This proves your talent is not from smaller hands, as some believed. The project is amazing to me and the inventiveness as always A+! Thanx!
