I do appreciate that vote of confidence boxcar - thank you!
This has always been a build I wanted to do - I can still remember watching the race when this car rolled around the track after Dale passed away. Was a pretty emotional moment for sure, so I want this to come out as nice as I can. I actually have about 3 or 4 more sets of these decals, not sure why, but I do - LOL

Now that the big scale is done, thinking to have a little fun and build another quick NASCAR build. One to match my Kevin Harvick Rookie - "Raced version" car. But this time, I will make this as a new car, and using some Slixx decals with the black numbers. This is actually how the car was dressed for Kevin's first race after the death of Dale Earnhardt Sr.
Also found a "Goodies" decal sheet - along with the original decals. Those look a little yellowed, so glad I also have some Goodyear tire decals separate as well...
And got the body a sanding, and the roll cage a painting............

Catching everyone up on this build - clear coat went on great......
After letting this set aside a day, I then started to get after finishing this up, only to find out the headers were molded wrong! BACKWARDS! It was like having (2) right side sets of headers, that were wrong fitting together as well. But "finagled" them in, engine set, rear end installed, rims and tires, etc-etc-etc
Then came the ANGER FACTOR, the rumors were all true, the front end on this body does indeed have a slight, skyward roll, and in no shape and form was this fitting. In my "FURY", I decided to glue bomb the engine rails and used a clip, that made so many crinks and pops when I put it on, I was for sure thinking this was gong to turn into a wrecked, in the wall, diorama build!
After letting this set in the clip for nearly 39 hours, being smashed, I removed the clip, and what do ya know - it seems to be alright. As good as it will get anyways. I managed to re-attach everything that came off during the "FURY" storm, and am planning to get the bumpers on and finished this weekend - MUST REMOVE THIS FROM THE BENCH. In the second picture, you can still see the slight upward roll to the front of the car, don't care anymore, just want it wrapped up and out of the way! LOL

I wanted to do the braided line thingy, but also wanted to "experience" this build first. I have 2 others, and will do different paint schemes, so next time - for sure, will be replacing / adding braided lines. Just will have to investigate where to get them on eBay, but I am sure they are there somewhere - EVERYTHING is on eBay! LOL As far as polishing, yes sir, that is in-progress, going to do several times until I can get that - "Oh My God - Did you see that!!" look -

With the window trim all hand painted - laid the decals last night. Yes I know, not "historically" correct, but with the decals offered in this kit, I figured, what the hay - lets make our own version. Honestly, you never can be sure, this could have been a paint / decal scheme at a race back in the day. Races back then, well, lets just say if you had 50 bucks, and a couple of contingency stickers, they would slap them on the car for you, just for that one race. So, you never really know, maybe I nailed a race paint scheme from long gone by! Cleaning and touch-up, and clear coat to come today...
