It definitely turned out great! It's always great to see these old Stock Cars, especially when they're done as nicely as this. Nice work overall, but my favorite part is that paint job, it just looks spot on.

Nice job. One of my favorite Petty cars. The only year he drove a Ford. For my future reference what mods would have to be made to lower the front?

I wish I knew Ron, all I did was glue the crap out of the engine rails, and clipped this together with those monster metal clips and left it sit a few days. I really, honestly, would have no idea how to tweak the front end to have it "curl down".
Maybe heating it up slightly? But that would be a real trick to do and not crinkle the fenders. It was like from the center of the front fenders to the front is where it needs to be "curled down slightly" and straightened out.

What I noticed was the "curse" that so many model companies have with kits. Many of the bodies just sit too high. Y.T. and model clubs sometimes use simple trick of mounting wheel "pins" higher up, whether by modifying existing ones or cutting them off. If necessary add small bits of plastic to right locations with short pieces of correct diameter finishing nail short segments. It's not necessarily an accurate thing, but does the trick in getting them lower. Rear wheels are usually considerably easier, leaf or coil springs. Pretty nice work aside from the kit height. I have the book, Richard Petty: The cars of the king. I'll have to check it for how he did that year. Thanx!
