Morning...it's always nice to read the history of the groups and organizations I join...thanks for the brief tour of your Memory Lane! P.S. - I may not log in often, but. I do make extensive use of the Fotki files for research purposes, and am quite grateful for their existence!

thanks for the replies guys,, more to come! on another note, we may be all over the place in this world but I have been lucky enough to visit homes of friends in other states, meet in person several times at shows, go to dinners with groups of friends after shows etc. This club has always been much more than just a forum for sure. Tom aka hotrodtom has been to my house when I lived in Omaha and we worked on models with his son too!

Holy clutch-smoke Black-man! That was forever ago! Hard to believe that that young man in the pictures (my son Nick), is now 28 years old! I remember those 55's too. The sparkly one had opposing opening everything and a candy flake paint job about 4 feet deep. I think you were working on a metallic blue '49 shoebox convert at the time with some really tasty modelhaus goodies. Man, it was cold the day we came to visit though. Even got to share some pickin' and grinnin'! (Bob likes guitars too folks!)

Tom mentioned TRaK, my other forum for special interest. While I love model cars over all, I have a specific interest in the old school, traditional style builds that takes you back into history before billet wheels and donks and all that. If you like that stuff feel free to join up, we don't allow anything but pre 69 old school stuff so if ya join be sure to read the guidelines! Within DPMCC online, back in the yahoo groups days, we not only had chats nightly, but we also had contests with real cash and trophies for prizes! If I remember right the votes were cast by the members. I got excited about these contests because it sparked my building and creativity. Being president I would enter the contests I put together as a participant not eligible to win. BUT one of our old members Chuck Bell put one on out of his own pocket which was ultra generous and anyone could enter. He bought a Badger 360 airbrush and a trophy , maybe something else small too. I loved the subject "old hot rod" but not a "show rod, trailer queen". something that looked driven etc... I won ! I still have this trophy and airbrush. Anyone hear from Chuck? I worry about his whereabouts as he was not a young man.

Sounds like the 60 Merc "Cinderella" , is this it? From rags to riches restoration. I bought this from Randy Webster also from Omaha. I JUST HAPPEN to have evidence!

Love The Drastic Plastics '57 Nomad Shirt! I Generally Steer Clear Of Street Cars These Days In Favor Of Vintage Modified & Stock Cars Although I Did Recently Purchase The Morobius 1967 Ford F350 Ramp Truck Due To The Fact That The Cars Havta' Get To The Track Somehow Right?

our new member Dave mentioned NNL , I have been to shows in a few different states and def Toledo was my favorite NNL. That inspired me to have an NNL in Omaha. Yep held a contest and a couple NNL's in Omaha for DPMCC , first NNL in Nebraska and club funded awards to boot! There have been contests in Omaha for years. With the help of Dave Neighbors (RIP) Steve Kohler , I took over the contest portion for three years if I remember correctly. It was an experience and it was fun! Here is the first contest held in person. Members came from Missouri, Kansas and Iowa. public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/1/2/2/drastic-plastics-mo/21st-annual-spring-/page8.htmlYou can see the 57 Nomad logo on the trophies

Our first NNL was supposed to be a little different but some things happened. My friend Elden Titus passed away (car customizer) and so he wasn't going to be there. I also contact George Barris whom I became short lived friends with before he passed. I asked him to come and ended up getting someone else handling his emails telling me that it would cost money to bring him out. When I had talked to George about this previously he was interested in coming but I found out he didn't make all of his decisions being a celebrity. Anywho, the first NNL offered an award in honor of my friend Elden. public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/1/2/2/drastic-plastics-nnl/drastic-plastics-nn/hey look it's Tom again! lol

2010 , the last NNL held by DPMCC in Omaha. TRaK in scale had been around for 3yrs at this point and this show offered an award presented by TRaK. This was also after the 57 Nomad logo was retired and we used the current one you see at the top of this page. At this time I had been taking photos for Model Cars Magazine and so you will see cards by some cars I wanted to shoot for show coverage. I think I started in 2006? I am still a photog for MCM but haven't been working it. I do plan on getting back at it this year! With that said, yes we had coverage in MCM for DPMCC! There are cards around my display with my name as a MEMBER , these cards were made and printed off by members of TRaK around the country and would be seen next to models at many shows. I would like to do this for DPMCC also. Awards sponsored by DPMCC,, Star Models, Traditional Rod and Kustom in scale and Bob Dudek Machine TRaK display by yours truly with one of the shirts I designed for TRaK. public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/1/2/2/drastic-plastics-nnl/dp-nnl-2-february-2/
