Yeah, I posted the question on another forum and borrowed JB's picture of those tires in there so that they would understand what I mean. Unfortunately it seems to be a common problem with this kit. Especially the wide whitewalls were off on both who replied, but neither one of them had any problem with the narrow stripes on the other side.
So hopefully at least the narrow stripes would be correct on most of the kits. Too bad the wide whites seem to be a common problem.

The tires aren't an issue for me as I never build stock. I usually pitch them. But, those particular tires have been around forever. The molds have to be worn out! I always pitch those tires because I don't like how they're rounded on the shoulders and how the pattern is on the sidewall in the same area. I'm kinda surprised that Round2 even put them in this kit. Anything would've been better. Like the tires from the Double T kit that had the narrow whitewall IMO. I'm still on the fence on whether I'll buy this kit or not. The cart and decals hold no value to me. I have a stock and custom version in the stash. The stock version is now missing some critical parts that I used on an original '60 Apache. I don't like the grille or wheels in the custom version. I may snag one with a 40% off coupon. But, I wouldn't pay full price for one.

I agree that I'm not going to use the tires on this car, but for some other application the whitewalls might have been good. I have one SMP '61 Pickup so I need one to be used as a donor, and in addition to that I think I want to build one '60 Chevy Pickup to display them both together.

I have to wonder who is at the wheel at Round 2 to let such poor quality renditions get into a "new" kit they claim to be so excited about. If I really cared about the tires (or the truck for that matter) I would complain to Round 2 and probably get some replacements (whether they were any better would remain to be seen) but as I do not, I will not. I just wonder how serious R2 is about their kits when they drop the ball like this. I only brought it up here to clarify my review, I do not like to imply something is good when it so obviously is not, and I find that a major flaw in most "reviews", especially when they are done by those who seem to value their connection to the company above giving fellow consumers an accurate portrayal of what they are going to find in the kit. I get no kickbacks so I tell it like it is if I tell it at all. And that has gotten me disinvited to participate at more than one site.

The only explanation I can think of as to why they used those tires is that they came in the original issue also (just checked mine). Still, they've reissued other older kits and put really nice tires in them that they didn't come with originally. If anyone wants a better stock whitewall tire, there's a set in the Revell '60's Chevy pickups. The stepside would make a good kitbash with this kit for something different.

I decided to build up the kart as a weekend project, no matter how long it takes. Pretty good progress so far, painted it Tamiya Mica Red that I had half a can of sitting around and did a little detail painting. Just want to detail the engines a little bit and cut out the decals. view of the backside, note the chrome fuel tank on back of seat, was always just plain plastic so here is one area it comes in handy (the plating I mean). Also note the plated helmet which is another nice touch for a "mirror finish" period helmet. wheels and tires with knockoffs off to the side, and the engines. Not much to the engines, just two halves plus the exhaust pipe, along with the sprockets and chain drives. But there are two of them, that makes for a darn hot kart. The engines and pipes are plated and usually I would strip the chrome but in this case I am just going to do a wash and some detail painting over the chrome. I did strip the exhaust headers and have painted them white primer. So its a nice little build, great for slump busters and rainy afternoons, depending on the level of detail. I am really fighting detailing it some more, spark plug wires would be a natural what with that spark plug nub sticking out and all, but this one I might just detail paint and let it be. jb

That kart is cool!
Would you be so kind to provide the width and length of the kart in inches? Or if you have one, tell me if it will fit in the bed of an AMT / Lindberg '34 pickup? I'm having thoughts...

Put a straight axle under that and you got a trailer!

20 minutes later: I thought I spied a great project for AMT's next vintage pickup truck release in that last photo. I took some spares from former and current projects and taped them together, used the tow boom from the 34 ford and the straight axle from the 32 Ford sedan. Also used a pair of the wheels tires and brakes from that same AMT kit. Looks good enough to strip the paint and continue, but I used the fenders and tailgate from the 34 I have, so I might want to pick up a lindberg version cheap. Unless someone wants to trade, for like the original 34 Ford box art hub caps to backdate the new reissue. jb

Ron thanks for letting me know, I was having problems with my photo host yesterday and it looks like they are back. will try to refresh the photos today, let me know if they show up can you see one photo above, of the kart in a quick build trailer with another trailer with a motorcycle in it? if not then I am really screwed up here, photo host does not seem to work can you see this photo: I can see one photo in the post with the line "If the glove had fit this well, OJ would be in prison" and one photo in the post with the line "20 minutes later", but I posted about three to each post and the others I cannot see. Can you (Ron or anyone) see those two photos, or is it all blank for you? jb

Same here, JB. Can't see any pictures in the posts you made after my question.
I do see the one you most recently "test" posted.
