Revell AG Trabant 601 Universal, towing trailer with AMT go kart. Trabant has had Mazda 13b rotary engine transplanted, lowered, SSR Mk1 wheels, Tamiya candy lime paint with top in Tamiya Metallic Sand and bonnet (hood) in carbon fiber. Kart is out of box from new AMT 60 Chevy truck, but with original but now deleted Bonneville streamliner body shell and wheels/tires. Trailer was shortened and narrowed item for a boat, with floor added.


Here is a pic of the set, note that I have now modified the car to sit lower in the rear than is shown here...that will be noticed in solo shots of the car.

And here it is now. The difference is subtle, but I think it looks a lot better:

Definitely an offbeat subject, something you don't see everyday, and the rotary power makes it even more unusual. The kit of the Trabant was most excellent, fine details, great fit and a joy to build; integrating the rotary engine was a bit of a challenge, but it came out looking pretty nice. The kart is a jewel in itself, well worth the cost of the current AMT 60 Chevy pickup just for the kart, even if the original kool streamliner parts are no longer included.

Jimmy Flintstone chopped 34 Ford three window coupe, made up like a dry lake bed racer. Chassis is basically the Revell 41 Willys coupe with some modifications, as are many other components of the build. One major modification is converting the parallel leaf springs of the kit to an earlier transverse spring on a suicide mount, meanwhile increasing the wheelbase by a good scale foot. Engine is a Chevy six cylinder with Hilborn style injection, this is from a relatively recent kit but I do not recall which exactly. Lots of parts box picking for the details. Most of the work was in thinning the body shell which was a pretty good chunk of resin. Paint is Tamiya Light Green with a coat of Tamiya Pearl Clear followed by a couple more of Tamiya TS13 Clear and a light polish plus a coat of Future over the decals.

Aoshima Subaru Legacy "Hippo Sleek" Touring Wagon. Kind of a mild JDM treatment, lowered but not low. Pretty much out of box with aftermarket wheels and resin exhaust pipes. Note the poorly fitted body kit...just like in real life.

Just finished up this C1 Models Porsche 996 Slant Nose transkit for the Tamiya Porsche 911 GT3. No problems in the conversion, fit and finish were up to donor kit standards, and the casting was completely beautiful, thin as styrene and just as tough and smooth. Paint is Tamiya TS 59 Pearl Light Red, with a couple coats of TS-13 clear over it.

Killer slant nose, and the color is a bing-go.

Another one down: for a long time I wanted to build the old Revell Austin Healey 100-6 but the multi piece body scared me along with just the general look of the pieces in the box. Got over all that and put a nailhead from the Revell 29 Model A into the engine compartment. Tamiya TS100 Semi Gloss Bright Gunmetal for the exterior and some cheap hardware store wine red for the interior. Interior carpeted and detailed, exhaust system scratchbuilt for the most part, seams filled and smoothed and of course the killer Borrani wire wheels from Model Builder's Warehouse. A sedate looking power house that would outperform a Cobra while sharing the good looks of a Jaguar.























See that piece of goop at the bottom of the front side trim? Never noticed that before, so upon seeing it
there had to investigate. Sure enuff, a bit of epoxy. But it came off with a well placed fingernail followed
by a damp Q-tip and a bit of Future. Man this macro photography will KILL you!










Also neglected to take a photo of the trunk, but the lid lifts and the trunk has embossing powder
for carpet and a wired battery. Might stick a spare in there too before long.

Finished this one up recently, quick build of the Henderson motorcycle in the MPC Lincoln I believe it was...








Wasn't completely finished in the pics, I want to gather together the motorcycles and bicycles I have built and take some group shots, when I do I will probably replace the photos with ones of the completed bike.

Mostly out of box with paint detailing, but did add the wire wheels (by MinisKurtRaitz), front disk brake, master cylinder, wiring and the shark fin exhaust tip, plus I lowered the seat a bit and raked the fork a tiny bit as well.

Light hop-up on engine, detailed interior, undercarriage and trunk area. Updated overrider front and rear bumpers, resin Sprintstar South Africa VW wheels from DiOlex Productions.
