Here is a Monogram box art build of the Little T, with the optional turtle deck instead of the usual pick up bed. Note this variant is seen in one of the photos on the reproduction hobby store display. Built pretty much out of box with a little bit extra detailing, but no paint to speak of, body is polished plastic. jb

Gunze Sangyo BMW Isetta, Abarth style. Lowered, interior rebuilt, engine faked with visible exhaust extractor system, wheels and tires from Tamiya Morris Mini race version, clear plastic body/windows piece made things a real challenge. jb

Revell Thames van, originally a gasser style model, redone as a street shop delivery van, probably based in London or somewhere. Undercarriage completely rebuilt starting I think with the Tweedy Pie frame with all kit bashed suspension and running gear. IFS front end, and a white metal Lotus twin cam engine down in the engine compartment. Meanwhile inside has been renovated with scratchbuilt bench seat, folds forward to reveal headache rack, rear area done in wood with authentic scratches and marks. Most rest of interior scratchbuilt as well including dashboard, floorboards, steering column, door panels, etc. Don't recall source of wheels and tires. I did the paint but my friend Jerry Amaral did the flames and hand lettering from my design. See the rear license plate for an idea when this was built. jb

Another JDM you don't see everyday: a 1965 Nissan Silvia (later to be known in the west as a 240SX). This one is done in an updated style, with big wheels and small tires, and since the Fujimi kit this came from was little more than a motorized toy, no interior detail other than seats to see in silhouette behind the heavy tinted glass. Added some little pieces like the Supertrapp muffler and massive disc brakes behind the XS Tuning wheels. Hardware store paint, polished flat and smooth and then coated with Tamiya Clear. A quick build but like the coveted JoHan kits of long ago, very beautiful in its capturing of the body lines of the prototype, and some nice detail pieces too, once the details are called out with a bit of paint or wash. jb
