Thanks Ron and Bob! This has been a satisfying build for me, an interesting subject that got boxed and put aside for a long time is now finally getting closer to completion!
I think the body looks decent now, so next step will be the decals. I will let it dry for a couple of days though, as I don't want to take the risk of ruining that paint job by applying decals on a paint job that's not completely dry. Now I'll have to find some decals for it...

We Got Decals! I didn't want to build any specific race car, rather something that could have been running back in the day. So I found a few decals from my parts boxes that looked decent on the T-Bolt. Those "Fagan's Speed Shop" decals on doors were very tricky to install as they broke up into several pieces when I tried to install them. I had to fix them a little with paint, but luckily I found a Revell Enamel that was almost a perfect match. Some Micro Sol is still required on those decals too. The red areas look darker at some spots than on other spots as the decal is not on place that smoothly. Hopefully Micro Sol and some extra work will take care of that...

Thanks Ron! You're right that it's getting there. If I can get the decals fine tuned today, I think I'll be able to shoot a coat of clear on it this weekend. And after that while the body is drying, I have the time to finish everything else so that when the body is dry, polished and BMF is applied I can just put everything together.
Hopefully I don't mess up that clear coat though.

Looks great from here. I like the window markings. The tracks I went to usually put the class markings on with with white shoe polish (back in the day).

I extended this CBP for another year! Finish 'em up! Started working on the 55 again today. I wanted to do something custom on the rear and I found an original issue AMT 57 Chevy custom clip in my junkyard and thought it would look good. Needed a few mods to make it fit... First had to cut off the extended trunk part Fitting in up I saw that it needed to be widened I guess to compensate for the scale difference. Had to grind down some of the stock body and cut the clip in half stretch it. It all roughly fits now, I can work with it.

That '55 looks great, glad to see it back on the bench. That new rear end will look great when it's all done. Looks great from here. I like the window markings. The tracks I went to usually put the class markings on with with white shoe polish (back in the day). Thank you! Yes that shoe polish look is what I tried to achieve with hand painting and I think I made it. My T-Bolt has been sitting on my bench for a while now. I'm currently finishing another build, a '55 Chevy Gasser so I'll be back on that Thunderbolt when the Chevy is done (Shouldn't take too long).

Good news Niko, glad you'll be back to this build! Got the rear clip fitted and permanently attached. Looks like some filling and sanding is in order! Now to figure out something to do with the front.

Interesting body color. The engine area is very well done, luv ignition and fuel lines. Tire valve stems are pretty easy, but few builders bother, thanx for your work there. A bit of a shame, the bland rest of the interior isn't as sweet as the fine dash work. Sometimes, a very thin "wash"of darker paint can bring depth to molded-in parts of interior. Good luck finishing the body and decals!

Great work on the 55 I really like the wheel flares and the rear treatment. To me it is screaming candy apple red.

Well I never did finish the '55. The usual story...other projects and distractions got in the way. Anybody have anything else to add to this thread before I lock it and put it in the archives for posterity? Any ideas for a new one?

My Thunderbolt is still sitting on my bench waiting to get finished. There wouldn't be much left on it once I get the hood painted. Anyway, we have a local Model Car Show here in February and my plan is to put that thing together before that. If this thread is not locked, I'll post the pics here, but if this thread is locked it's no problem. I just post the finished pics in where they belong.

I just extended the build for '18. Here's everyone's' chance to finish up a build that has been languishing in a box for a long time. Now I can still finish the '55 as part of a CBP. OK all...dig in and get one finished!

Thanks Ron! Getting that done before the show shouldn't be too hard to do as there really isn't much work left. Now let's just hope someone else might jump in as well! And of course, it would be great to see your '55 get finished too.
