Wow Bob! Nothing like a virgin vintage AMT kit! Thanks for the privilege of letting us share the opening. Which box version are you going to build?

I'm going to build the red competition coupe on the side of the box . I remember seeing the blue one with fenders and flames somewhere , did you build that one ?

Glad to hear that the reissue has the same parts too! I guess I need to start looking for one of them too as I'd really like to build that Competition Coupe out of it...In the meanwhile I'll be watching your progress!

After seeing Ron's blue '32 I thought it might be fun to build both of the box art cars so I bought this kit on ebay for $24.99 + shipping . I was curious to see the parts and yes , they're all there . I opened the body and chrome to get a closer look . Looks like my decal problem is solved ! Go for it Bob! At least you'll have fresh decals! Looking at that chrome tree I see the full flat moon discs aren't there? Are the scalloped hood and cycle fenders in there?

Yes Ron, as an ex-race and rally marshal I saw quite a lot of these competing in various guises. But they still rally them in Ireland big time, their own series with the Mk1 and other rear wheel drive Fords. In fact one of the leading lights over there produces new complete bodyshells and all the spares needed to build complete ones!

I think Mike & Ed fixed up one of those on Wheeler Dealers? Looking forward to your build up.

Here in Finland those Escorts are very popular rally cars as well. There is a series called F-Cup where those cars are very popular but now they start showing up in historic classes as well. I wouldn't mind having that kit on my stash either!

One of my very first cars was an Anglia panel truck. Eventually I put a Ford Cortina GT 4 banger in it (1600 cc? or was it 18?) and the five speed and drove it like that for a long time until I sold it. just thought it somehow related. jb

hey Bob/tooold, re: your 32 ford kit, if you are not going to use those lake pipes with the heat shields, please PM me and maybe we can work out a trade for them. I need exactly that for a current project. Thanks.
