Thats a pretty neat Citroen, it looks like my VW Thing (that I hope makes it out in resin soon). Never seen one in person but the box illustration looks great.
Didn't Ebbro or someone make something similar not too long ago? Not the off road version this one evidently is but a van type of thing?

I made a trip to Ollie's out of town (330 mile round trip,) and picked these up. I missed the big sale they had the week before, so these and a couple other new 'Vettes were all they had.

I and several others around here, I would assume, got the new issue of Model Cars Magazine. Pretty good issue and good to see them more or less back. Larry Greenberg was a coup I would say. There is also a chance that lifetime subscription might pay off.

I've been on some model car sales sites on FB lately. However, I found this one on eBay. I have not had a Lindberg kit in I don't know how long, but I'm liking the parts it comes with! Chrome trim for the rear window as well as chrome bottom/wheel well moldings included! Pretty nice. I have a couple of other Lindberg kits coming in that I bought on FB. I'm trying (and succeeding) in keeping anything I buy under $20, shipped.

When I was a kid my neighbor brought one new and I've lusted for one ever since. The extra trim saves some foiling and eye sight, you should see my glasses! Coke bottoms.

Some great choices!!!! The Olds 442 is a beauty. Back in the day I did a cutlass in black with a lion decal on the side. It was meant as a "daily driver/weekend racer." I was surprised when i took it to a few shows, how much appeal it had. The Euro kits are really appreciated by me. Revells in particular are fine quality, The DTM racers (German Touring championship, soon to be ended) series interested me, so the kits were likewise great (if weird in aero design). The '55 Vette and '62 T-bird are winners too. I hope to be seeing some up here finished in the future!

I have made some big scores on ebay recently. For some reason there was a whole slew of half built or completely built examples of models I have been looking for. Some of them were listed in the wrong category (the Futurista was listed under "Monsters" I think), and some were listed with completely misleading or incomplete key words. All of them I scored for what I consider a bargain. The problem, as is often the case, is in the shipping. Several of the built cars got clobbered due to careless packing. Some of those I have repaired, but some not and one in particular is pretty much a lost cause. A shame really. So what am I talking about? Well, how about a near mint survivor Little T for under twenty bucks? The photos were taken after dunking in some hot water and soap for a couple hours then agitating and setting out to dry. Missing some minor parts, tail pipes, windscreen, rear license plate but the rest is there and in decent nick. This one survived the trip with no damage. How about this: the legendary Revell double kit, Scarlet Screamer and Bantam Bomber? Both were listed under generic titles but I recognized them as soon as I saw them. NO ONE bid on them against me (bleedin miracle) and I think I got them for about 20 each. Very nice builds with nice paint and wired engines and details like that. There was some reconstruction necessary on those two, especially when the front tires and one pair of rears were broken off the axle. But careful drilling and pinning yielded a pretty good fix and an improvement on the original actually. (Its my box in the photo, the box did not come with the auction.) Next up, from the same seller, the horrorshow of the lot. Everyone knows the Orange Crate by Revell, and everyone knows what a b it can be. So this nicely built up with pretty solid looking construction and in decent shape (door was off it as originally shown in the auction), so I threw down a bid on it and again, no one bid against me and I walked away with it for around twenty again. (All quotes are from memory as is everthing else so of course minor warps in the space/time continium may occur.) Unfortunately it fell victim to the packing demon and though the seller thoughtfully put it inside a plastic bag (without any padding whatsoever) and then strangled it in packing tape, it only sort of survived the journey. It is currently sitting in a display case awaiting me deciding if its worth it to attempt reconstruction, some pretty fiddly stuff got broken off but the good news is this is an early kit and the chassis doesn't show all the flash and pin marks the later ones seem to. So it might be worth saving. Finally, something I got a couple weeks ago. Even though I know a reissue has been announced, I am constantly on the search for early AMT Chevy Nova station wagons, in part so that I can steal a clean roof off one to replace the crushed roof on an example I have that is some kind of dealer award. So here was this forlorn "drag race/funny car" (weren't that funny) for ten bucks with no bids. At first glance it seemed it might be the Boss Nova wagon or something but then I noticed the wheelbase had not been altered. Closer inspection revealed a complete interior, fresh looking window glass, a hole cut in the ever increasingly scarce hood (stock hood, not the altered hood released later) and some other usable parts, so I threw down a bid and again, no other bidders and I walked for ten plus ten postage. So, it comes and first of all everything comes apart nicely, nice untouched chassis pan, interior pan had some aluminum foil on it (guess it was supposed to be aluminum paneling) and everything looked good, but what was with the body? (Remember I only wanted the roof to graft onto another wagon). It weighed a ton and it was all smooth and wrinkly. I figured it was just thick paint so threw it in the CSC to strip. Came back a couple hours later (WAY early in most cases) and most of the paint had melted right off. Leaving...a good eighth inch of what appears to be body putty. Under that the body looks pristine or nearly so, the detail of the side trim was revealed. So, its still got some more marinating to do but here is an in progress shot...of course I did not take a "before" photo. A closer look: what the heck IS that there stuff? OK then, a pretty successful, not too expensive, weekend or week or whatever this is. Oh I forgot the Futurista, that Darryl Starbird creation with the bubble top and VW engine. Been wanting to build one in the real color of the car but the kits or even builders are horrendously expensive these days and I didn't want to do it that much. But ran across a listing for one and one half of them, a built up glue bomby looking thing plus clean bubble tops, tires and wheels and other misc parts, all listed under models-monsters or something like that. With virtually no traffic one would guess (it came up for me in my saved search for Futurista in model vehicles section, but came up as an also-ran, which many people don't look at), and again no competing bids, I still paid coin for it but not anywhere near what they go for usually, even built up glue bombs. It is still in the package as I know I will need to strip the paint first thing and that pond is currently occupied, so I haven't bothered opening it up yet, hence no photos. Probably take a look at it over the weekend. jb

WOW great scores and luck there JB! You should play the lottery! LOL.
Back in the day modelers would use wood filler for body work. Perhaps that's what the mystery substance on the Nova is?

Yes Plastic Wood, I betcha that is what that gunk is. Luckily it is all coming off without issues, revealing what appears to be virgin plastic surface underneath.
Ordered an AR-7 today too. Two weeks registration and delivery then go look for ammo. Wanted one for a long time and finally pulled the trigger, in a manner of speaking. Fun times.

I picked up 3 more from, of all places, Wal-Mart! I guess some of them have displays for these. Not all do, I've found out. I'm trying to stock up for retirement. I now have 34 car models, 1 motorcycle, and one jet model to build. These barely met my criteria of "under $20." They were $19.95 each, lol. I think I'm done buying unless something really catches my eye.

These actually came in last week. No more! I need no more models! The Continental feels like it's pretty light. Probably not a bunch of build options. However, we'll see about that! Lol.
