He's at it again ! I had a set of 40 Ford fenders in the salvage yard - no grill. But an idea formed in my mind. First I had to build a frame. I'm using the front and rear suspension, wheels and tires that was left over from the Goodguys roadster I stole the body from for my last build. The engine is from a Revell Chevy Craftsman Series Truck (#8) No instructions, so I'll have to imagineer a believable engine out of the parts.

Now for the questionable part. A chopped 32 Ford Cab. I thought it would be fairly easy to radius out the rear trunk area of the 32 to match the 40 rear fenders. Turned out there was a lot more to it than that. The cowl area on the 40 was about a full 3/8 inch or better wider than the 32. So I'll have to widen the whole 32 body. Matching the 32 to the 40 rear fenders proved to be very challenging....more cuts and relieving than I had imagined! I will spare you fotos of all the further butchery that went on after these initial cuts. Once I got that under control, I had to get the body halves back together with that big gap !!! That almost got me to thinking about aborting this whole idea. Besides it was beginning to look a tad ugly ! But I got it together and in the photos it looks like it may not turn out as bad/homely as I thought. This is where I'm at now and I have a busy schedule for the rest of the week, not to mention that I'll be taking my truck to Billitproof at Garlitz museum next weekend. But, I'' be back.

Looks like just "winging it" works really well for you! Who the heck plans anything like this anyways! I love your outside the box builds! Keep-em-coming!

Well, Kirb, Ya DO have to think ahead a little doing stuff like this, but I don't think finishing off the trunk area will be too big of a challenge. Thanks for looking.

Well, Kirb, Ya DO have to think ahead a little doing stuff like this, but I don't think finishing off the trunk area will be too big of a challenge. Thanks for looking. I was wrong. I found a Cameo hood and thought that might be something to use for the continuation of the 32 trunk line. It has a small hump. So after some more butchery, it didn't look all that good. I think this is the first time a model has kicked my buttcheeks. It was getting too far from the hot rod concept I like to model in. and I already have produced two models that I had to include the word UGLY in naming them. Sorry, I will be abandoning this concept and will put the parts to better use.

What a bummer, I was looking forward to seeing it done. But I do know that with you those parts will be seen again so its not a total loss.

I built this frame for those 40 Ford fenders and it had a perfect stance. If I have another 40 or seen one in my near future, I would have saved it. But instead, seeings as I had another 32 coupe body. I modified the frame for a build with the 32. which meant narrowing it some, moving the motormounts and relocating the front axle to the formost cross member. I'm keeping the craftsman truck Chev engine and the rear air bags, meaning this will not be TRaKable and will continue being shown here. I want the coupe body to set lower between the rear tires, so I had to raise the rear wheel wells. I used thin styrene flatstock to make the 'ribs'. I had to scratch some inner wheel wells. And I'm working on sctratching anothr firewall.

Thanks, Here's the firewall. can't decide if I want to extend the lower for 'kickboards'. But I think I may have to in order to avoid an empty space between it and the rear of the engine.
