This is one of two Nisson engines that I got from Dave Delova. I put the 2000 in a model A sedan hot rod and this one will go in another hot rod. I lost the box top (I built both engines at the same time) and the instruction sheet is entirely in Japanese, so I don't know exactly what this engine is. Stretched aftermarket frame ( no instructions) and the tub from the Ala Cart. Both also from DD.

cool build Clay, i think that engine is from the early Nissan 240Z cars, the other one that you put into the sedan was for an early '70's Skyline.
thatframe looks massively better stripped of the chrome too!

I found the box top. The engine is a 2400cc OHC, Type L24 I stripped that whole sprue tree first thing. Homie don't play no bling !!!! The frame has been extended 1 inch and the engine and cab pretty much needed that room. This was a strange frame with no instructions. I had already rejected it for another build. I figure it was meant for a model T, it's so small. The front end still baffles me. It seems to have a torsion bar suspension that refuses to set square. I'll probably set the frame and wheels square then glue the front end solid. I usually try to think ahead better than this. I need the frame kickup out of the cab area, I have located ithe cab more towards the back, and so, need the room for the interior tub.

i started a project with the same engine awhile back. i never posted it on the TRaK because i knew it'd be a big problem with some there. i used a '32 pheaton body and cut it down, it looks kind of funky, but you know how i like to build stuff! keep is posted, i think it's a really cool project! One of my fav blues songs goes, " Every thing I do, got to be funky" This will make a nice model. Wheel wells in the side make it interesting. Were you planning to fill them? All 4 wheels on mine are similar if not the same to the front one you show. I'll be running skinnys for tires. Things gonna sit pretty high compared to jhow I usually slam everything as much as I can. Hope I can get the air cleaner off so I can paint it the same color as the car.

i'm going to leave the wheelwells exposed and add some weld bead detail to the inside of the body. there used to be a really cool pocket sized mag called Magneto that had a similar project in it as a 1:1. that car i think was powered by a Chevy or GMC straight 6, i just wanted to be different and use a really cool alternative engine. some "traditional" guys flip thier lid over stuff like an import engine in a "hot rod" but to me it's still build full well in the idea of a true traditional rod and using what ever was available, in this case a Nissan engine. it's not a new engine, it's a pretty old one actually, but i'm not going to argue endlessly with someone over it, i'm just going to have alot of fun building it my way!

Amen, Bro. The fact I like to be different is equal to: I use what I have. Makes for some challenging and interesting building.

I spent the last couple of sessions modifying the Ala Cart grill shell. Cut off the quads, used the outer edges to form an indentation. Will be installed with the large end down. SDort of like a track nose, Then this morning, I discovered that it would way too high with these frame rails. Can't have the grill shell higher than the cowl, it would look dorky - like Jeff Gordon. So, been workin today to get it set down in between the rails. Salvaging a Revell Willys narrow radiator.

The engine doesn't look too bad, especially with the extra detailing. That fuel pump on the right front corner was a spru turned down in my Dremel. I found a small bed whilst rummaging in the junk yard, so I had to attack the frame once again after painting and installing some parts. Sure would have been easier to do this the first time around !!

I spent yesterday morning cleaning up the ex Ala Cart top and building a gastank. This was a piece of 13/32 brass tubing and a couple of baby moon hubcaps plus a littl bit of detailing.

cool shorty exhaust!
a friend of mine in high school tried to be "cool" with his F-150 and cut off his exhaust. the thing sounded like a farm tractor, not quite music to V-8 tuned ears! still with no money back then it was something and it sounded at least slightly cooler than the pressurized air through a drinking straw tone it had before! LOL
