There's a new thread on TRaK for only 1969 builds. I don't have any 69's so my discussions there brought me to this idea. Ed Fluck posted this picture of what looks to me like a design in clay from the Chevrolet idea department. Hosted on Fotki The only C3 Vette kit I have is a 1976 so I figured I could build something like that slick beauty out of that kit. The first thing I did was the usual removal of badging etc.. After that I removed the lower fender flares and filled the side inserts. The new rear window opening came next. I don't know what I would do without Evergreen sheet and strip styrene, and that's what I used for all the rest of the body mods. It took a lot of different pieces to get it to where it is currently but it still has a little way to go. The rear body extension was assembled from 7 pieces of .060 sheet, one of which was fitted into the rear of the body for overall strength. A lot of filing has gotten me to this point, which is fairly close to the first picture in profile at least. Looking at the clay design and my model I see that I have to lengthen the opening by an eighth of an inch at least at the forward edge. Luckily it's still in the early stages. And ditto, the angle of the rear valance is too curved. Get out the files again! Thanks for looking and your comments as always. Gary

I'm not getting very much done on this one other than refining the rear bodywork and doing more now to the nose and front fender shaping. I must say though, this kit is really a piece of crap. No positive locators for the interior or firewall for starters. It says by the firewall drawing not to glue it in the location shown, but never does show it where you DO glue it in place. And, if I'm placing parts in the correct places, there will be a "grand canyon" under the rear of the hood at the bottom of the windshield. Just for starters...... .. Gary
