I think I almost answered my own question by trying to formulate the question.
I have a passing interest in the Testors brand because they used to be located near me and were a big name in the hobby at one time.
I'm also aware (I believe) they never owned the molds to any kits, but marketed some reboxed from other manufacturers. Fujimi, Johan, maybe others.
Usually it was easy to figure out what the original kit was, but I've had this 1/24 '80 Camaro in my stash for years. Not a good looking kit inside the box. I always wondered what kit it was based on. I was about to ask you guys when it dawned on me why I never liked the kit.
It looks like a plastic version of a cheap diecast! Yes dummy me just realized this a few moments before posting the question. So I guess my question turns into, is this correct assumption and any idea what diecast it might be based on?
