Sounds like the Atlantis kit is a disappointment. The body looks pretty swoopy to my eye. Your efforts on the Z28 are a much better approach IMHO. Odd that they would include a Ford 427 in a Camaro funny car. I'm pretty sure that the engines in most of the funny cars of the day were hemi's if they weren't brand loyal. Possible to get photos of the trees?

This is the one I'll build. It does have a 427 CHEVY.

Thanks Paul. I think the kit is actually of Jungle Jim's Vega funny car that Revell sponsored which would explain why it looks so unlike a Camaro. If I'm correct that car did run with a hemi.

Jungle went with Revell in 1972, his 71 car was updated with paint and airbrush 72 grill. The Heavy Hugger kit came out in 1970 along with a squished Mustang and an odd Maverick. The Revell 1972 Jungle Camaro has the correct shaped body but is lengthened in the nose as most all of the 1972 and up funnies were running longer chassis' for handling.
1970 was the last year he ran a corporate engine as he lost the Chevrolet sponsorship.

Bummer Paul. I'm wondering about some of the choices that Atlantis is making. They seem to put odd engines in kits. I wonder if some of the molds have problems so they swap other parts in to fill the void. The fact that the Fiat altered came with no chrome parts (yes I realize that many of you strip all the chrome) and the Cadillac V8 was weird. All in all I love getting access to many of the Revell parts packs, but I'm thinking that their kits are more for using as parts for other builds. Still waiting on the 392 Hemi which I hope is chrome.

Still waiting on the 392 Hemi which I hope is chrome. I originally thought the Cad in the Fiat was odd until I want through some of the old Hot Rod photo spreads of mid 50's drag events. A lot of early Hemis but tons more Caddies, Oldsmobiles, Buick, Pontiac, Lincoln and unexpectedly Packard engines and few Chevies or OHV Fords.
Yeah I hope the Hemi is chrome also. The chrome is an issue because there are fewer and fewer Vacuum Plates around for three main reasons. Eco laws with the materials, not much of anything is plated anymore and like the gentleman who owns The Little Motorcar Company the people who do the work are up in years, the .M.C. owner is in his 80's.

Yeah, I love the Caddy, just not such a fan of the Ford. If Atlantis were issuing parts paks instead of kits I wouldn't think anything about it. I'd buy the ones I want and forgo the rest. At the time the Fiat kit represents nobody was running Caddy's and 427 Fords weren't in anything but Fords. Once the SOHC came out you saw those in various race cars, but the 427 FE never was in anything that I remember. Atlantis is now selling the wheel tree in chrome, the roadster chassis and the running gear in white. I bought 4 of the wheel tree and 2 of the running gear to add to my collection. Hopefully they will offer tires and engines as parts paks. Of course T and bantam bodies would be great as well.
Still can't get over the fact that your Chevy funny car came with a Ford. That ain't right.
