A long time ago, back in the late '70s, I built the Monogram '66 Malibu Street Rat kit. Since then I have always thought that the '66 Chevelle/Malibu is a great looking car, clean simple lines and not too much fussy detailing. So when I resumed building model cars, a couple of years ago, I started looking out for one to build. I bid for one UK Ebay, but it ended up going for silly money. Then, waddya-know Revell re-released it, so I snapped one up quick and built it up as a tribute to the 14 year old me. 2022 1979 Build Specs: Body - I enlarged the rear arches slightly to give clearance to the bigger wheels, filed off the badges and bonnet centre peak. The hood-scoop is built from styrene card and inserted through the existing hole. Paint - One coat of grey primer then two coats of matt black. This was then fully rubbed down before two final of coats of grey primer. I left off the side pipes and added flanges to the ends of the headers. The rear slicks are from a long lost funny car and I found the mags in my wheels box. The rest of the kit is pretty much box-stock, just detailed.

I've got a couple of these kits and have always been on the fence about them but I really like what you've done with it , the primer finish just screams weekend racer ! Well done !

I like it a lot Spike. The pops of color and chrome under the hood and the interior gives it the perfect look of a work in progress. Saving up to have the body painted, but in the meantime hitting the track. Great job.

Probably the best version of this kit I've seen.
Good job, Spike
