Decided it was time to build this car. In March of 1970 I took photos of it at NY National Speedway after it crashed. Got a Polaroid of it in February brand new leaving on tour. Made a total of 6 runs.
Chassis is assembled from spare parts of I believe are Johan. I know there is a resin Nova funny car body, but it has a few issues that are not correct for the 1 to 1. They bothered me too much to ignore. I took the Revell bodies and cut the first at the back edge of the front wheel opening. I cut the second 1/2 inch behind the back edge if the wheel opening. Cut the hoods to fit and filled the SS vent grills on the hood. Next I'll make up the rear spoiler from flat stock and a piece of quartered tube. Paul

Very impressed with the body mods, beyond my skill level. Can't wait to see the finished model.

I hate to keep saying the same thing about your models, but man you sure do keep busy! Good work as usual Paul. Gary

Filled the hood, door and trunk seams. I eliminated the cowl vents, door handles and the door and quarter window frames. I made the rear spoiler up out of .040 plastic and a one third piece of 3/8" plastic tube. I finally radiused the rear wheel opening to the distinctive shape he ran. A light coat of primes and now the finish putty work. Paul

Bumpers and grill done, the bumpers width was narrowed 1mm on both ends to bring the up against the body to blend in. Five minor spots in the body work all ready to sand and blend and the body is ready for a final prime and base coat of Aztec Gold metal flake. Paul

Paul, excellent work. Until I looked at your work I never realized how much similarity there is between a Nova and a Camaro from the side. Excited to see your progress.

Well finally got paint on it! Every time I thought it was ready, I took a photo and found more spots to fix. Paint is One Shot Pure Gold Metallic with Tamiya Clear Red and Tamiya Clear. Paul

Looking good.
Is it possible to share your pics of the actual car? I don't recall seeing it before.

Looking good. Is it possible to share your pics of the actual car? I don't recall seeing it before. Not many people saw the car, it only survived less than a month. It was driven by either Pete Williams or Ron Attebury when it wrecked at my home track N.Y. National Speedway on Long Island N.Y. That race both J.J cars were running there. The chute failed. Driver is in the last pic with J.J. looking at the car. Paul
