I'm thinking of building this next.. So I've bought it into the kitchen to wash it. Not having opened the box since buying it in June I noticed straight away that only the Bronco has separate rubber tyres! The wheels/tyres for both the buggy and the trailer are all complete plastic mouldings, so having to paint the wheels that are combined with the tyres is very disappointing!

This is on my short list for new acquisitions, along with the ME dragster, the full detail Nova wagon (if and when) and the Moebius Chevy II gasser. I did not know the tires and wheels were molded together for the buggy and trailer (those being the main reason I would buy the kit), but it could work out those are pretty easy to paint. If there is a clear ridge around the wheels separating them from the tires, it should be fairly easy to maintain that separation between them, and flow paint onto the wheels without slopping over on to the tires, and vice versa. But again, I do not have the thing in front of me and you do, so I might be off base on that. It is kind of strange a new tool (is it?) would have compromises like that, but I guess if it does you just have to live with it and make the best. I know you are experienced and talented enuff to get it done and make it look good so I look forward to following your progress on this. No doubt separate tires would have made it a lot easier though!

Hi jb, on further sight of these wheels/tyres, the trailer ones are separate but both plastic and the buggy ones have the wheels moulded in the tyres. it's not the painting that I'm disappointed about it's the fact the the tow vehicle has proper wheels and rubber tyres but the buggy and the trailer don't, I don't understand why all have proper wheels and tyres or none. Well I've started painting the tyres flat black with a steady hand and we'll see how I get on! Others have also complained that the wheel/tyre combo on the Bronco is weedy and are looking for more heavy treaded tyres.

Should be a great addition to your buggy collection !
Interesting how the car model builders complain about plastic tires and the airplane/military people can't stand vinyl/rubber tires .

Interesting Bob, I was looking through my models and photo's yesterday and found this, a plastic kit I bought from Scale Equipment years ago! How similar is that!

More today.. Test fitting the plastic wheels/tyres. The pins they mount on don't capture them so after sand on tyres and centres painted they will need to be glued on. I have had to do the same with the Bronco as again the method of mounting those wheels/tyres are by metal pins through the backing plates but they are not tight and fall off, so I've glued those as well.

Here's today's work laying up the decals, still a bit of work to do though on this buggy.. And the tyres are already dirty!

Well the old one turns out to be plastic, but that was built about 15 years ago, here they are together, the second photo is the old one in white primer ready for a refurb..

Body on will take paint out of windscreen frame before gluing windscreen in. 28. 11 21 I tried to fit the hardtop but the top of the windscreen is too far forward but the dash didn't allow me room to lay it back any further so I'm looking and making a tilt for it.

I took the windscreen off, fitted the roof unit and side windows and shaved the windscreen down to fit. Tried the Bronco roll cage/rear seat.
