I write as an old guy. I built the kit waaaay back when! The whole series was a "low cost" ($1.49 retail) way to appeal to drag race fans. Most of the kits shared the same parts with engine and undercarriage standard. The exceptions were a couple mid-engine cars, the corvair being one. The way the company "adapted" the chassis to different bodies was the interior tub. Fit wasn't always great, as the Youtube vid proves. In brief, it was a compromise AMT used to standardize the line (another was the cheapo plastic tires). Back then we were pleased to have a decent drag chassis for models. It saved time and a lot of work, and it was inexpensive. I used one of the mid-engine hemis and rear sub-frame for the '53-'54 Chevy panel truck kit and it was perfect there too. Best of luck building, and thanx for sharing your luv for styrene!
