Has anybody ever built this? I have one now and thought I saw something somewhere about difficulties putting it together. I remember a street, mid engine, 2nd generation Vair years ago. Thought building the funny could be interesting. Thanks, Gary

I have never built it either, so take it for what its worth, but I think this was a case of AMT just taking one of their funny car or dragster chassis and throwing a 2nd gen corvair body in the box and calling it done. In other words, I kind of have the impression it doesn't really go together without some persuasion and probably scratchbuilding. It definately does not build up into a mid engined street car kind of thing, which would be nice if it did.
Again, totally uninformed except what I think I have heard about the kit. Don't even have one on my shelves even though i have a couple of the real street car kit.

I don't have one either but I heard it's a Hemi Under Glass chassis with a 'Vair body. I have HUG kit and the chassis does look the same.
The video moves a little slow but lays it all out.

I built one awhile back. The only issues that I had was a gap between the dash and windshield, that was easily fixed with a piece of sheet plastic. I also made a floor panel for in between the rear wheel wells. Being a true GM guy I changed out the Hemi for a blown 427 Chevy. I'll post some more pics in the completed models tomorrow.

Well hell that makes a liar out of me! Nice job, and actually would not be all that far fetched making it into a streetable car. I agree with switching out the hemi for a bowtie motor. For the street a 327 would probably suffice.
Nice job, clean build, makes me want to get one.

All righty then. I watched the video. Thanks for the link. Thanks for your other replies too. I think I got more out of them than I did from the video. I think I can put this one together, more or less. A couple of things in the video look like they can be done better and I'll probably change others 'cause that's what I always do. I can't help myself. I would like to get it started soon but we'll see how that works out for me. Gary

Thes ame set up in in my never finished Valkyre which in now getting an LS-5 It has a LT-1 weighs in at 2135 with 350 h.p. '66 to '69 Corvair 4 speed has M21 internals and rear gears are 10 bolt guts from the factory.

I'm working on mine now and will probably have some questions soon. I haven't taken any pictures yet but can tomorrow so I should be starting my thread in the next couple of days. Gary
