Not limited to any era or subject. Just for fun what's the one you like or maybe dislike? For me my favorite of all time Revell kit would have to be the Stone, Woods and Cook Willys, hands down. My least would be the legendary '57 Nomad Does not come close to delivering what the great box art promises. What's yours?

Just curious, but what was the record offer inside? The Beach Boys? So far, my favorite is this. I normally don't pay attention to the brands as I've had buggers by every manufacturer. I hope HL goes back to doing clearance like they were doing when I bought this one.

I hope HL goes back to doing clearance like they were doing when I bought this one. "Wheels! the Chevrolet Nomad Story" record coupon Most all but vintage All the original one but the Tri % Chevys, SWC Willys and Orange Crate top the list. Modern 57 Fords, 61/62 Vettes and 68/9 Chevelles. Most hated . . . the Jeep Honcho.

Oh I would say the Orange Crate just for its refusal to behave or any of the Ed Roth kits. I am a bit of a masochist. Just like to get difficult things to comply, although truth be told the Ed Roth stuff goes together very well if you are patient.

Just curious, but what was the record offer inside? The Beach Boys? Looks like it was a mail in offer and part of a "Wheels" series. There were a few of them. It's a narrative of the Nomad story.

Depends on what you mean by favorite. Statistically it has to be the 1/25 scale '32 Ford Highboy Roadster and its various offshoots (i.e. 3-window, sedan and five window) if you mean how many have I bought and built. Numbers don't lie and I've built dozens. Historically I always liked the Tony Nancy Double Dragster kit, but in fact have never built either of those cars. Instead it has always been my go-to parts kit for dragster builds. As far as which kits I admire most I have to begin by distinguishing between the post-merger Revell-branded Monogram kits and the genuine Venice California items. In the latter case I have to agree with Bill (jbwelda) that the Roth series is mighty impressive, but, again, I owned many but never built one, as they are parts kits for this confirmed kit-basher. But still, I have dry fit some and they are fine replica kits, as are the ornery and infamous '57 Nomad and Orange Crate kits mentioned above. I never could figure out if the '40 Ford series was a genuine Revell kit or had its roots in the waning moments of Monogram. But if it's pukka Revell it's a fave too, in all its various forms. And I've come close to building one OOB, almost... In Monogram-based kits I have to mention the '37 Ford 1/24th series, especially the pickup as updated by Revell in a Special Edition a few years ago, and, of course, another brilliant parts-kit series, the '29 Ford RPU/'30 Ford Sedan. SAgain kits I never built OOB but ravished thoroughly for their many and wonderful parts. And finally the Little T and it's various offshoots over the years (including the dreadfully named Boomer T, argh!!!!). In the modern Revell tools they have all frustrated me because they tie your hands fairly badly to predefined styles. Here I'm talking about the pre-choppped '49 Mercury and '48 Ford and the recent '29 Ford Roadster/'30 For Coupe release. Really well engineered modern kits all, and most welcome in my stash, but way too narrow in the kind of car they build out too, OOB. The police car '48 is a different matter because its at lease stock. Ditto the 2 '50 Olds kits. I'm really glad that Revell introduced themand can only hope that post bankruptcy they will all survive and thrive.

I collect those records by the way, the auto related ones anyhow. Just bought an LP where they compiled a bunch of them onto one 12" piece of vinyl. Never knew that existed.

I'm a certified "oldster," so memories go waaay back. I remember the Revell kits as being super detailed with a ton of parts. Unfortunately, the "tri-5" Chevys of the mid-fifties didn't have the style I liked. I did build, later in my model days, a '57 Chevy. I hated the fins and slab of chrome decorating the sides. I stripped it off, converted the front end to a fiberglass look tilt front bodywork and put in an injected engine. At the end of my building days, among the tons of kits I had, was the custom kit of the '56 Chevy. The machinations of the model companies as they faded and merged makes calling some kits, as is the term "Revell-o-Grams." Thanx for helping keep these old forums alive, if no longer kicking like in years past.
