There seems to be a lot of buzz on the forums lately about the release of this kit. It really doesn't do much for me, I suppose it would make into a cool gasser or service car or something like that. What's you guys take on it? Will you be getting one?

I always loved this car, even if it was more the full detail version and especially the Indy Race Team version. I have already preordered three, one is to replace the broken body of an original that is mounted to a dealer award plaque, the other two just to build. I think its one of the rare AMT reissues (actually i guess its retooled) that i care about, most I just leave on the shelf. This and the go kart with the 60 Chevy truck are the two best R2 releases ever imo. It is also nice to know it is molded in the original style tannish plastic and not plain white. If you want a good laugh, check out the hpiguys build video where he slathers on the Rustoleum from primer to color, spraying this way and that, all without a care in the world. Tell you what, if I dared do that, I would have a runny spotty orange peely mess...which is pretty much what he ends up with anyhow. But I guess it gets him free kits, or something, and a shelf full of crap build models! And if you post a comment not 100% positive, it disappears in record time. Funny. But I digress, continually. jb

I have learned a few things from his videos though such as weathering, dry brushing and washing techniques which he seems fairly good at but I digress as well.

I do have to give him some credit though, he does nice weathering and he does end up with decent out of box builds. I just can't get past the painting; I was watching the Nova vid and I had to turn my head for awhile. It was hurting and I could feel the plastic cringing under the attack of solvents. But, I guess it worked out ok, and thats what counts. I do applaud him for showing whats in the box and that it will go together.
But the wagon, yeah, I am excited for it to arrive.
