MGram '29 Ford RPU

Hi all, I finished this one up this morning. It's the old Monogram Street Rod issue of the kit that started life as the classic Blue Beetle. I started it a few months ago after getting the urge to build a truck. It ended up back in the box for a while due to never ending parts fit issues but after a break from it I decided to dive in a finish it.

I did a bunch of dechroming to give it more of a utilitarian look. The fenders are painted Tamiya mica silver and the body parts are Rustoleum gloss dk green. I used the wheels from the woody kit and I returned the mill back to it's original Caddy configuration using valve covers and heads I cast off of a set of BB originals. The carbs I think are from a 'Coffin kit.

Not my best work but not the worst either and I'm glad it's done. Looks good on the shelf with my other PU builds. here it is warts and all...

Beauty and that top fits and looks good too.

So theres a bunch of fit issues, with the Blue Beetle? Its been a long time since I built one so I don't recall.

Looks like ultimately it went together well though.

Oh and engine looks particularly clean too, very sharp looking.

Thanks JB! On this kit it seems that a lot of the parts shrunk a mm or two. I know that sounds "out there" but that's the only way to describe the fit issues I had with this one and I have no idea how that could have happened. You might notice it in the wheel base as the wheels aren't quite centered in the fenders. I built one of these years ago and don't recall such anomalies with it.

Yeah now that you mention it, I can see the rear is sitting a little forward of where one might wish it to be. Funny about that shrinking thing, could it be at some point in its history they had to retool the molds? Maybe the original Blue Beetle is off too, I don't really recall, and I wonder how the modern reissue of it dimensionally.

At any rate, like I said, ultimately you pulled it off, looks awesome!
