I know what you mean. That and putting different colored wheels all around. I have that car as well. I really like what you did. Those are just H/O scale decals?

Hey Ron, This is awesome, funny thing I just saw this at the Groc store the other day and passed it up because I was already getting two others. Now that I've seen yours I have to get one. (they had several) Very cool, the chassis is already sorta nascar, I guess the exhaust should come out one side, but I think maybe some of the early ones came out both? I am actually doing a Petty hauler and 68 Plymouth, That I got 1/64 decals for, not sure if it's the same vendor. I don't think so, there are a couple that sell this scale.
Yes you are right about the scaling, they (HW) in particular call everthing 1/64 and even HO. But as we know you can't hardly place two HW side to side and be the same size. yes, to bad about the green windows, they look cool, not sure Nascar officials would dig them...LOL
As far as the colored wheels I have had marginal success taking off the green (or other tints) with some Alcohol. I have a large supply of various wheels so I can just change them, but I recently bought a Gulf ramp truck and Camaro, and the add showed Chrome, but they sent me the Green tinted rims, it was the last one they had, so I've been trying to remove the green, I think I'll end up just stripping them and painting them. I have a bunch of Racing Champion 64 FORD stock cars, but none in this body style.
Yours came out great I really like it

Just don't see them in this scale so I scooped it up..there was only one. At first I didn't notice it was a race car and was pleasantly surprised when I did. I wanted to do a Fred Lorenzen LaFayette Ford version but couldn't find those decals anywhere so I settled for these. The early cars did indeed have the exhaust exiting on each side, at least the Holman Moody Fords did anyway so I'd say this chassis is correct. I soaked the whole chassis, wheels and all in Super Clean to remove the chrome and the green plating on the wheels then sprayed the whole assembly flat black as a base and was happy with the results. Have fun with yours!

Hi Ron, Is this the Super Clean you used to strip the chassis? Just got one of these, gonna do it like yours. Jim Yes, that's the product I use. I found the formula in the larger 1 gallon jug seems to be a little stronger for removing paint but the spray should be just fine for removing chrome. Just dump some in a small container, drop in the chassis and let it soak till the chrome is gone. Good luck with your project, looking forward to seeing it.

Thanks Ron, I thought I would try a small container first before obligating to a whole gallon. I did read Dueces thread and jb,s replies about this stuff, on paint stripping.
Now, if I can just find it in this one horse town (Tucson) LOL

Now THAT'S pretty dang cool right there. I've been seeing more and more of this kind of work on different forums and have to say that it looks pretty fun.
