Hi all I got this kit from my brother in October. He started it then realized it was out of his comfort zone, but not after making some huge errors anyway I've managed to correct them. And the kit is now back on track. Here is a quick list of the faults I've corrected. First he started planking the sides but kept snapping the wood trying to bend it round the bulkheads used so many pins trying to force the wood strips to conform to the shape of the hull that the bulkheads delaminated then he glued and clamped them together so they were so hard you couldn't pin them again so I had to replank without pins. Also he started planking the deck made a mess of that and took it off leaving huge gouges in the deck. He used so many pins to glue the deck down The pins he used in the transom were way over scale I fixed all that then glued the deck back on and thought what's that hump there The hole in the top there I thought was another hatch turns out it's a locating tab the front bulkhead wasn't fully down due to an accumulation of dry glue and wood dust. This looks much better After gluing both decks back on I thought I had it sorted but no I then realised he had glued 2 of the rear bulkheads the wrong way round so off came the rear deck again, that sorted I had no other problems (well other that is than getting the rest of the decking off and filling the gouges he made in the decking. So here is where I am now.

Hi all let me start this update by saying (in the politest possible way) F$%# b%$$/%% hell. Let me explain.* I do my modeling in the spare bedroom, I lay a piece of vinyl down on the floor immediately round my work bench and on top of the bench I put the container with all the brass pieces on the bed behind me after removing some parts needed for my next bit of work I set to adding some of the stanchions on the bow and heard this noise as if a plastic container of billions of bits had fallen on the floor, imagine my surprise when turning round to find that is exactly what had happened and of course as it was BEHIND me and not around the vinyl protection area it had fallen on a shag pile carpet, of course the lid came off. So after moving the bed (carpet was under it) shaking the carpet out I got this. And after several hours This So on with the update. I'm really chuffed with how it's going (I should point out check ALL the stanchinons BEFORE gluing them in place as some of the holes are not clear and removing and drilling them after they are glued in place is no easy task.

Really enjoying watching this ship come together. The level of detail here is amazing. Good work recovering your parts. I it were me the parts probably would have fallen down into a HVAC register or something like that LOL.

What a great save and your moving forward to make what looks like a beautiful model. Built the plastic Constitution with all the rigging and 39 sales probably 50 years ago. Took me a year.
This will be so nice when you have it done. I hope you don't loose interest.
Good luck on completing it. It'll be quite a "JEWEL".
