Hi all I got this from my missus for Christmas. I must say for a revell kit I'm very disappointed, it's the worst kit I've had in ages, look at the deformation of the windscreen surround for starters. I've never seen a kit with so many sink mark's or crackling of the surface of the plastic. And this is the first part I've looked at some of the sink marks are in very awkward places. Not a very encouraging start.

Wow. Kind of looks like the kit was stored in a high heat environment at one time. I know you'll sort it out though.

I admire you following through on this...from the first glance I got of this kit I have been puzzled why they would put out such a toy as this. Just to begin with there is precious little 356B here...the body screams 356C in every detail I can see and this comes from a background of owning three 356As and Bs. Plus like youre finding out that engine is a joke, very little resembles the real thing much less of all those "carbs". And with all the sink marks and stuff I am surprised you are sticking with it, I don't know if I would have. But with your skill and perseverance I think it will end up looking alright. I am with you though, most Revell AG kits are pretty with it, look pretty much like the prototype and are well detailed, this one fell off the tracks though, hope they come back to their prior glory. Thinking about it, though, their Porsche Panamera was pretty weak too so maybe it is a trend. I know the Trabant I just finished fell together and near as I could tell resembled the real thing to a large degree.
you might be able to find some webers and appropriate manifolds in the right scale at shapeways though if you want to throw money at it. There might even be stock appropriate Zenith of Solex carbs too but it might be a case of casting pearls before swine.
thanks for showing us! jb

You've made a more than respectable job on that engine, and I've noticed that you cut the square box off the rear of the fan shroud, I believe that was the oil cooler and air duct but nobody's going to see it anyhow. A Porsche is always the star of the shelf, stay with it.

Hi all well I've decided on the colour, black does look great. Guess what I've discovered the body is warped sideways as well One step forward 2 back. The instructions would have you paint the carpet black, I was going to go by this website derwhites356literature.com/Porsche356Colors.htmlFor colour combos but as you can see they say black had carpets of green or red Well here are some pics of the actual car we have in the workshop. So that's what I'm going for The carpet has a ribbed effect which I will try to duplicate with dry brushing some darker grey over this.

Hi all next update and we have some colour, first coat of many. A little explanation before I mention what happened next I built a shed in the garden for spraying my models as the misses refused to allow painting in the new house (that's fine I can understand that) unfortunately we have a hot tub which we need to take down in the winter so with the new house theres no room to store it so where is it stored, you guessed it, in the shed so now guess what, yep I cant spray in the shed as swmbo says she doesn't want spray dust all over the hot tub. Spraying outside the shed door got the body sprayed started spraying the other panels and it started to rain, by the time I got it all in the shed all the other panels had at least one rain drop on them. They all have to be sanded down and done again.

Looking good KP. I like the black paint and the way you aged the leather seats. Well done Sir.
