...but I picked these up at HL. I've noticed when they put these on clearance, they do it multiple ways. They'll move them to the CLEARANCE corner somewhere (I hate that way,) they'll put them out in the aisles by the models themselves, which is fine, or they simply put the new price on them where they are, which is my favorite way. It's easy to spot the red tag over all the white ones.
I found in my paint collection a gorgeous light royal blue pearl by Testor's that I didn't know I had. I didn't have anything un-built that I thought it would look good on, so I will be using it on the Pontiac. That and a gun metal (dark bluish-black metallic) on the roof. The build will be similar to the green car pictured. I also noticed that this does not have a mention of the year of the car or the fact it's a Pontiac on the box! That's weird.
The Chrysler 300 will be done in a light yellow with a white top, I think. I'll look up Chrysler colors and see what I have closest to it.

They also had the 65 Lincoln (I think) that can be made into a wagon, a 1972 Bronco, and like a 1965 Suburban. Ironically, I had the Lincoln model I bought at Big Lots for $5 about 15 years ago, but sold it and another version of the Pontiac on eBay thinking I wasn't going to build models anymore.

Good scores. Both excellent detailed kits. Have fun!

Yep the Lincoln was a '65. Here's one I was working a while ago, as far as I got. Been sitting in the box. I need to finish it up.

^^^That's going to look sharp when finished. daggumb, I may pick that one up if I see it again. I went by HL again (another store) and found this 1966 Mercury. They also had an 87 El Camino SS, a 65 El Camino, and a Prowler. I should have gotten the older El Camino for my 66 GTO El Camino mashup, but I'd rather have a 66 or 67. I think the lines will flow better. I had no desire whatsoever to get the Prowler. I'm not sure how I'll do this one. Probably some kind of custom style similar to however I do the Pontiac.

That was pretty much everyones reaction to the 1:1 as well. The thing looked like a poorly executed 1:1 AMT model from the eighties.

Good score. That Merc has some real cool period custom parts in it.

I could have bought the model and used it for parts, I guess.

I always wondered why they (someone) didn't make a model of the Chrysler/Benz Crossfire. Now that was a pleasing design to my eye, much better than either of the "retro" attempts (PT Cruiser/Prowler) though I guess maybe it was just too "European" for mid-American tastes. Personally I think they look bad ass, especially lowered a bit and with the later turbo version, had enough guts to get out of its own way, unlike the PT Cruiser (Neon with a big body)...don't know right offhand what the Prowler had in it.

I went back to HL yesterday and the 1965 Lincoln was still there at $7.49, so I got it. That and the 1965 El Camino. Every picture on the box looks like this! Why would ANYBODY buy it with this box art? However, I do plan kit bashing, so that's okay.
