I occasionally buy a distressed Dinky or Corgi Toy if the opportunity comes up, especially if the base plate is still decent (patina is ok) and the car is appreciably vintage that it sparks my motivation. Here are a few I did a few years ago.
Dinky Toy Austin Healey. Cleaned up and painted with a Model Master aqua color, red interior, blue wheels and hipster in shades at the wheel:
Riley Pathfinder, I think it originally was a taxi but I modified it into some kind of police car. Cleaned it up, I am guessing some Model Master Deep Metallic Blue with details handpainted, polished the wheels, I think I had the roof piece and one spotlight, so I added the second from my parts box. Clarified the glass with Future floor polish (back when it was called "Future", wow, back to the Future!)
Citroen DS19, done up to match my friends 1:1 with black body and red roof (his didn't have white tires though). Pretty much just stripped it, and repainted with some spray can paint. The white tires are a trademark of the French arm of Dinky Toys, who manufactured this particular item.
And finally for this bunch, a Dinky Toys land speed record car, they never named it and i think it was meant to depict a rather generic LSR with possibly some styling cues from Donald Campbells Bluebird. But it doesn't much resemble it now, I tried out a front to back fade from solid red through flames to a more transparent red fogged into a yellow tail. Turned out pretty good I think, certainly its the wildest thing I have ever tried in this scale.
OK thanks for looking, be sure to comment if you got something to say, and if you got some Dinky Toy restores you want to post here, feel free to do so!
