Dug out the old JoHan Pinto FC today, & got back at it. Gonna build a fictional version, with this as the name of the car: Frame will be painted in One Coat Mystic Emerald, & the body will be One Coat ME & One Coat White Lightnin': I had to replace the driveshaft pieces with a length of Evergreen rod, & a lot of parts have been dechromed: The front rims & inner rims & front tires were replaced by a set of the same from a Polar Lights FC kit: Rear rims were dechromed, painted with the "Dow #7" flat gold mix & I replaced the horrid slicks with an AMT Parts Pack pair of M&H ones: Blower case parts have also been dechromed & assembled: Basic block & inner body panels have been assembled: Knowing this is one of the last versions of that oft reissued kit, other than cleaning up the flash, dechroming several parts & having to replace the front rims & tires & the back tires, it's astonishing how well engineered this kit was & still is. That multi-piece frame? all the parts still located well, & once I brushed on the liquid cement, I used the floor pan to hold the parts in place & properly aligned.

Now this will be interesting! I don't think I've ever seen one of these classic kits built up before. I'll be following.
