Saw this Ford Zodiac Wagon in my big box full of old "toy cars" and immediately thought that this needs to be restored. These '62-'66 Ford Zodiacs were basically the "rich man's version" of the Ford Zephyr 6 that was fairly common here in Finland as well. However, the Zodiac versions have to be pretty rare around here, as I can't remember seeing one anywhere. This Diecast is made by Road-Master and it's made in the late 1960s in England. I saw some of these for sale in the internet with surprisingly high price tags, but as mine is pretty beat up, it's a good starting point for a restoration like this. I remember playing with this particular car as a kid, and even back then I liked the body design a lot. At some point someone has painted the car orange with pretty poor results, I honestly can't remember if it was me or someone else (it could have been my dad as well, since he played with the same car when he was a kid). So this is what I'm starting with: As you can see in the pictures, two pieces are missing. The hood and tailgate. Also both of the A-pillars are broken, so that's some extra work right there. Today I started by fabricating a hood from a couple of pieces of sheet styrene. Just some careful measuring and cutting plus lots of filing resulted a pretty good hood that fits on place. Some filler is required to smooth everything out, but overall it's not too bad. Next I'll need to fabricate the tailgate, which will be much bigger challenge than the hood. I hope I can pull it off. Then I can start unassembling this Wagon...

Interesting subject Niko, I've never seen that one before. Looks like you're off to a good start. I'll be following along for sure.

Alright Niko, Glad to see someone else coming on board to this category. That is so cool you are restoring something you had so long, and your Dad played with also. I know you'll do a good job restoring it, and turn it in to a nice family heirloom.
Your friend Jim

From the side, I almost see Aston Martin in it. Just a little. This should be cool when finished. I like the "log" holding the hood up.
