With this new category on this forum, I thought I'd share this one. I built it in 2010 so the quality and skill level was not as good as it would be today. The starting point for this little project was Hot Wheels '68 Cougar that was looking pretty sad with a worn out paint job and bad chrome plating. Perfect starting point to try making something different. Unassembling the car required drilling out the rivets holding the body, interior and chassis together, but that wasn't a big deal after all. First I did a bit of bodywork to get rid of the biggest scratches here and there. After that the body was painted with automotive metallic red from a spray can, which resulted a heavy "Metal Flake paint job effect" on a car this small. It was exactly what I was looking for though. When the body was dry, I mocked up the chassis, cut it in three pieces in order to raise the rear end a little to give it a '70s style rake. Mud flaps with USA Flags were done in paper, side pipes were made from solder and a couple of white areas were painted to the body. It's not an exact replica of a real car, but it's pretty close to a similar Cougar, featured in late '70s or early '80s Finnish "V8 Magazine". The project took two days, it wasn't planned to be very detailed, but decided to share it here anyway. Oh, and interior was painted in white with a scratchbuilt steering wheel. After the Cougar I did a couple of other Hot Wheels cars, but can't find them right now. It was a fun project, so I might do some more of these when I have the time. When I do, they'll be posted in here.

Even though I'm a bit late - Thanks Ron! It sure was a lot of fun, and I bet I'll do a couple of more some day. With today's skills and a little more time, I'm pretty sure I could make one of these cars look a lot better than this one. Just needs to find the time...
