Something a little different for me as I haven't built any kind of drag car for many years . Plan on keeping it simple so we'll see how it goes . I saw a video review of the '57 on youtube and figured it would be a good starting point . I'll be using the body from the '55 kit . The Revell diecast was Badman II so mine will be the Badman III . I have a couple of the Monogram kits to scrounge specific parts like the hood scoop and ladder bars . Here's the contents of the '57 kit . I'll be using everything except the body , dash , and the chrome body trim parts . It comes with a BB Chevy which I might swap for a better detailed one , not sure yet . Nice tires ! Here's the frame/floor and the '55 body with the interior tub from the '57 , it fits as good as the '55 tub does . . . which is not very good . First step is to assemble the front and rear suspension . I'm so used to building the 1/24th scale kits that these parts seem small to me . Wheelbase looks good ! The rear wheel opening will be opened up later just in case things move around . . . they always do . And I'll be raising the front ride height too , I'd like it to be even or just a bit higher than the rear . Next is the tilt front , stay tuned !

I love every build of yours that I've seen so far, so I'll be following along on this for sure.

Cutting the front off was pretty simple . I did mess up the top of the driver's side so it will need a little body work to make a nice curve again . I forgot to show what I did to locate the body in the same spot every time . The interior has pins that locate it to the frame nicely but inside the body it just flops around side to side and fore & aft . A couple of lengths of square rod glued just below the side windows allows the interior to snap into place , and a piece glued behind the rear wheel openings locates the frame/interior the same spot every time I take it in and out . Hopefully during final assembly there will be no surprises ! With the body and hood in place I found that my hinge could be the same location as the '57 kit hinge very easily . I glued a piece of tubing to the body and drilled some holes in the frame for a pin . It STILL fits and opens nicely !

Looking good Bob. This is a great idea and with your clean building style this one should be a winner. Watching for sure. Just for info purposes this kit and all it's various issues has the same frame, engine and running gear as the '57 Bob is using here.

Rad project! Very nice work separating the front clip and hinging it. Looks like it works and fits really nice.

Hi Bob, I'm a painfully honest guy, so I have to admit, when I first saw this thread, my first inclination, was to jump on my bike and ride across country, and beat your butt. But then I realized, I am 61, and I haven't ridden cross country to beat somebodies butt since I was in my 50's. So I would have to crash on your couch for a couple days, before we actually fought. Screw your modeling skills, it's your psychic abilities that are amazing. How the H do you always know what I am working on. Then you build it better, and get done first. My only chance is that you glue your fingers to your forehead. (Plus my bike needs tires.) As soon as I get back from my anger management classes, I'm gonna finish my 55.
Disclaimer: Parody, not intended to be taken seriously. (except for the part where you build it better, and get done first)
Your friend Jim

I might finish first but I doubt it will be better than yours . It's been a long time since I've really detailed a build like you do and honestly I don't have the patience or dexterity in my fingers to do that anymore , and I'm satisfied with that . Plus it's nice not to spend months or even a year on one project !

This is going to be a very interesting project. The start looks really good already, and with your building skills I'm sure this will turn out excellent. I have no experience with that '57 kit, but after building and making lots of improvements to one of those Bad Man kits, what you're doing here might be an easier way to build this kind of a '55 Chevy. Plus that I've always preferred the Sedan over the Hardtop anyway.
Very nice work making the front end. I've done a couple of them myself also, but there always seems to be a problem to get it open and close nicely. Yours seems to work flawlessly. Very nice work.

Very nice work making the front end. I've done a couple of them myself also, but there always seems to be a problem to get it open and close nicely. Yours seems to work flawlessly. Very nice work. I'm sure you know that the location of the pivot is the most important thing to make it work properly . I'm still expecting to do some selective sanding and thinning of the panels before I'm finished . Been busy and not getting more than a few minutes bench time daily so progress is slow . Mainly been working on the fit of the front clip and building the firewall . Also pieced together a BB Chevy from a Chevelle with the blower parts from the Badman kit and some headers from my parts box (maybe from a Willys ?). I decided not to use the Badman header dumps , the rectangular shape always looked odd to me . Not decided on the wheels yet , those in the photos are from the '57 kit . Since this is supposed to be a newer generation of the Badman I think some changes should be expected .
