Hey all! Been spending some time away from home. Limited resources here so I before I headed out I dug through the stash and found two AMT Custom Shop kits I had and brought them along with a small tackle box full of basic tools and supplies to suppress the modeling withdrawals I would suffer here LOL. I started the Vicky the other day and I have to say I forgot how much fun these are. Keepin' it simple. Not content to leave it "box stock" though I decided to repaint it. Sanded off the graphics and scuffed everything up Wal Mart gloss black with Rustoleum clear Getting ready to assemble the very well done Ford 4.6 32V mill

Simple is a good thing and the Phantom Vickie is a great choice ! I didn't realize it came with a 4.6L (?) , that wash really brings out the details .

This is a good model to build out of box. Fitting, detail level is satisfying. Style is what it is.. but I think U're doin a great, away from ordinary environment.

Finished yesterday! Did what I could with it with the limited tools and supplies I had. (this will improve as time goes on). After an 11 hour drive today we're back at home base. Thanks all for following.
Here's the modest bench I put together. Just about everything here is from thrift stores or GoodWill.

That turned out great! The style is definitely not up in my alley with modern engine and drivetrain, but despite that it's always fun to look at a model that was built as nicely as this one. The washes that you added made a big difference to the overall look, and that paint job turned out great, too.

The style isn't really my cup of tea for sure but I knew I could satisfy my need to build something with it and a did enjoy the build up. This kit really has some really cool well done parts in it...the awesome 4.6 32V Cobra mill not withstanding.

that looks great. way better than with that checkerboard pattern on it. Did you lower it some? I don't dig that top too much, I think that's what has always kept me from buying the kit. Looks way better without it though. That distributor wiring, did you do that or is that a formed piece you painted? It particularly looks great and that engine overall looks very good. Maybe I should grab one of these kits, don't know if I have ever noticed a prepainted version. Isn't it also available plain Jane white plastic?
