I said at the start this had the potential to be best yet, mainly because of the considerable challenges it posed, combined with your undoubted skill at keeping your "eye on the prize". Every step along the way has shown I was correct in my prediction. This will not only be a technical "tour de force" but as true to the spirit of the "Big Tub" as one could hope. Build On!

Thanks Bernard ! I'm not sure about all of that but I do appreciate it . I do a lot of thinking about a build like this before I start but once I do it's pretty hap-hazard . . . really just winging it every step of the way ! Got it up on all four today . The only Li' Coffin wheels I have left are in an unbuilt '64 original kit so these rears are from a Blue Bandito . I did grab the center caps from the parts kits but after looking at the instructions realized the Big Tub didn't use them . Glad I didn't glue them on before I looked !

Making the fender supports one piece like Monogram did just isn't working out so I had to rethink it . I flattened some 1/16" tubing in a vise and will try making the supports out of it . Here's the fronts . Going to work on these some more before doing the rears .

Here is a little tip I believe it was Tim Boyd shared with me: no need to make the fender supports actually support the fenders...put a drop of epoxy on top of the tire to hold the fender (wheels will not be turning/rotating obviously), then make supports afterward. This allows you to get the fender right down onto the tire where it looks good. Also, rear fenders should be canted backward so the forward edge is almost 11 o'clock. Anything else looks mega dorky if you ask me. Also the Big Tub had scallops molded into the fenders, one on the front and one on the rear of each fender...I usually paint them a contrasting color but even without that the scallops should stand out. jb

And thanks for the pics of those scallops , I knew they were there but couldn't find those photos anywhere . They'll be added . As far as the rears being at 11 0'clock , that's a preference thing . Since I'm doing box art builds mine will match the box art .

Lots of distractions lately but I'm back at it and it's getting pretty close , should have it finished in a couple weeks ! Worked on the updated fenders yesterday , a little cleanup and some paint should finish them .
