Finally! I call my Resin 1954 Studebaker Conestoga Wagon, using the AMT 1953 Studebaker as a donor, finished. It gave me fits to say the least 2 steps forward, 4 steps back..
It is a resin model that I have been looking for going on 14 years, and finally found out Steve Kohler at Star models resinrealm.net/Star/STARModels.html had it in stock.
It was painted a Krylon gloss coral isle, and gloss white from W/M with a high gloss clear. This was the first time I ever used the Molotow Chrome marker to do the trim, and I love it as it does look as close as chrome as the chrome pieces in any model kit.
I cut the back out the back window so the long board can stick out..
I detailed the interior with items I had from a Greenlight Diecast trailer I bought. I even found an 8-track player.
I messed up one of the '54 grills and ended up using the custom ones from the AMT '53 Studebaker kit.
The wheels are from my parts box, and the raised white lettered tires are from the most resent AMT '51 Chevy convertible kit, and the door handles are from the Revell '69 Camaro kit.
The motor is also from the Revell '69 ZL-1..
I also built a matching trailer by redoing a Greenlight 1947 Ken-Skill Teardrop that I found at Hobby Lobby around Christmas time.
On the way to the beach..
I modified the rack that came with the trailer to fit the wagon, and used string as rope, and scratch built a rack for the trailer.
Found a lot of Misc. surfer decals in my stash, the Bikini Express was in the AMT '25 Fruit Wagon kit.
Here it is with the '53 Studebaker wagon I built along time ago, using the top and interior tub from the AMT '55 Nomad kit.
The build.........
The AMT '53 Studebaker Starliner Coupe compared to the '54 Studebaker Conestoga Wagon, the real wagon was only produced for 2 years, 1954 and 1955. Also none of the sheet metal was interchangeable between the "Loewy Coupe" and the full size cars.
I had to modify the top of the window as on the real car it went up to the drip rail.
I cut the rear seat into, so I could fold it to make room for the board.
I used the bucket seats, console and dash from the '53 Studebaker kit.
Got the paint on it..
I broke one of these grills and chose to use the ones from the '53. I liked the '53's better even though they are smaller..
The ZL-1 engine with headers..
The boards, the long one is from the Revell '31 Model A kit, and the other and the decals are from the AMT '41 Ford Woody kit.
Got a little paint on the interior..
Thanks for looking
