Here's what I'm working on. The other stuff I was working on was getting boring so I threw this on the bench. After the 40 Ford Trophy kits this one is by far my next favorite of the old AMT kits. My idea is to build the red box art custom. I've been wanting to do this one for some time. I built one when I was kid when the kit first came out....Hopefully this one will look a little better. I'm using the lowered front axle position so the lower A arm assembly needed to be cut apart and dropped accordingly, You can see the lowering blocks I added to the rear suspension. I casted up a set of Caddy valve covers from a mold I made from the set from the AMT '59 EL C. Making more progress Almost ready for paint. Surprisingly everything for an original box art build custom is still in the later issues of this kit except for the Dodge wheel covers and tires. Paint day Good ole Testors 1203 gloss red airbrushed over white primer with my trusty old Paasche. After being covered overnight to set up, in the cooker(dehydrator) in goes. It's been in there all day, a must to fully cure Testor's paints in a reasonable amount of time.

Beautiful paint job. Did you decant the rattle can and then use your airbrush to apply it? How long do you leave the model in the dehydrator before you can handle it? Thanks.

Thanks, yes I decant the spray into a paper cold cup and add a few drops of thinner if needed. I usually let it sit under a box overnight to let the paint set up so I can remove it from the stand and peel off all the masking etc. I like to let it "cook" for at least 10 hrs but not all at once. I found that, at least for me, the old Testor's cures better after a few heating and cooling cycles.
