The foundation for this project is Revell's new '30 Coupe kit.
I got rolling by kit-bashing a Halibrand quickchange axle assembly using AMT '40 Willys quickchange center, axle tubes and spring hanger brackets from the Ed Roth Tweedy Pie T and the spring from Revell's '29 Pickup. I then shoved an .060" rod through the whole thing, transfer'd over the D-shaped brake plate flanges from the '30 Coupes 9" rear axle and slid the brake plates from the '30 Coupe on. I omitted the finned brake drums because they made the track WAY too wide. I will be making a new torque tube to the appropriate length and using the Tweedy Pie rear radius rods.

The front axle is the dropped & filled I-beam from AMT's modern re-tool Ala Kart. I cut off the original wheel mounting pins then drilled and inserted sections of .060" rod. I also filed the "spindle flanges" into a D-shape to accommodate another pair of '30 Coupe brake plates.

I started with the channeled option Model A frame and added a Revell '29 Pickup rear cross member and a modified Revell '48 Ford center X-member.

You can see here that to install the rear cross member I filed a notch into the top of the frame rails then trimmed the cross member leaving only the top flanges on the ends then dropped it into place. I then added strips of '040 across the top so that I could file C-notches for axle clearance.

A notch was cut out of the floor for the rear cross member to poke through. I also had to trim .040" off the bottom edges of the wheel wells to accommodate the same amount of material added to the topside of the rear frame rails.

Here's a view showing the modified frame and quickchange axle in place.

Up front I made motor mounts and fit a Revell '48 Ford flathead which will wear the Navarro heads and intake from the chopped coupe kit.

Here's a rough mock up on the '30 Coupes new Halibrand style wheels and track tires. The rear stance is set and the front should end up like this or pretty close as I will be building a new flat cross member and using a pretty flat spring. The hood top is Revell '32 series and fits the cowl / firewall perfectly and I found a cut up '32 grill to throw on with it. I plan to run the top.
