I have a friend that has a 1958 Nomad similar to this color, so I decided to do it in orange.  Actually it's a Testor's color - Go Mango.  While doing research on the interiors on these cars, I found that they had color matched bands on the seat panels to match the exterior color.  I had fun doing that.  Unfortunately, my white decal paper decided to be a PITA and not work right.  The decals wouldn't slide off the page.  I had to get a blade and separate the decal from the backing.  The kit didn't come with any "badge" decals either, so I had to make those as well.  I used the clear decal paper with fairly good results. 

The front is lowered and I decided to use the "custom" rear bumper instead of stock.  I wrapped it in aluminum tape.  I'm going to back off painting the body shells till I actually start the model.  Too many times I need to make alterations and the clear coat doesn't handle that well.  Window vents look like the metal would be about 3 inches thick on the real car, so I have to work on that.  The tail light surrounds had to be sanded down a bit as they were too thick and would have looked ridiculous on the model.  It didn't come with mags either, so I scarfed them out of my parts bin.

Excellent work, and that 58 Impala's paint is smooth man! Takes me right to American Graffiti, love it.

WOW - You've been busy. Beautiful model building.

I love the black and gold Hurst olds 442, but they are all really nice builds. Love the motorcycle too.

Revell 1969 Shelby GT 500 Krylon Satin Nickle and Duplicolor Caymen Metallic

Mostly everything on this kit fit well, except for the hood and a couple of minor items. I think the hood's warped a little. I'll work on that. "Shelby" tail chrome piece was shown to fit on from the outside, yet I think it should have gone in from the backside. However, I waited till the kit was nearly completed to put it on, and I wasn't going to take the body back off. Wheels are from my parts box. I wasn't in the mood to detail the stock wheels that came with it, and I don't like the old Centerline type custom wheels. At least not on this kit.
