Early Birthday gift from two of my son's! 1978 Mustang II. 81,000 actual miles! It had a engine fire and they guy just didn't want to deal with it. No paint damage. Just burnt hoses and some wiring. Didn't even hurt the carb!(just needed rebuilt which I did myself) Took about a month but got it running and brought it home from my sons house today! All original except wheels and tires. Still have the original lace wheels.(need restoring) V6 4speed two owner (two if you count the grand sone who never registered it) Car spent it's first ten years in Germany!!! Lady Colonel and then the guys grandfather who had it shipped to the states after he came home in 1988!(he bought it in 1986) I even have the shipping documents!!!

Very good looking Mustang, great to see one that's in original condition as most of these have been Hot Rodded many times. There's nothing wrong with that either, but still it's nice to see one that has preserved just like it rolled out from the factory lane. It looks good, and I bet it's quite trouble-free car as it's so close to factory stock.

It looks good, and I bet it's quite trouble-free car as it's so close to factory stock. It is a true survivor! Only 81,000 actual miles! It is all original right down to all the smog equipment, except the wheels which I just added because the original size 13 inch tires are hard to find and expensive when you do find the right ones! Tiny bit of rust in the rear quarters behind the wheel wells and that isn't all the way through. Other wise just surface on the ridges where the paint has worn thin! Interior in great shape, no cracks in dash pad only slight wear in drivers seat and the plastic in the back faded but not degrading. Had 5 people asking already if for sale and two made surprising cash offers and I'm well off the beaten track in the back end of a mobile home park! But not even considering selling. I figure this is my last chance to own something like this before heading to that big garage in the sky!

Cool! My first car was a 77, and my first "project car" was a 78!
Being a V6 car, you probably have the rare double-hump transmission cross member that makes dual exhaust routing much easier. That's a nice part to have, and the V8 guys wish they had!
And yes, those factory alloy wheels were rare as hen's teeth 20 years ago when I had mine, can't imagine they've gotten much easier to find since then.
Never thought I would see the day when Mustang II's were cool, but attitudes sure seem to have changed with a couple decades time.
