I am looking for any helpful hints, shortcuts or suggestions on how to use bare metal foil. I am trying to apply it around 1/25 car windows. I am getting the job done but it makes me want to go on a mad rampage everytime I attempt to use this stuff. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Thanks Ford I will check-out the links. Any little tip may be the thing that keeps me from going crazy. I just recently got back into building and I do not do any of the amazing stuff I see on this forum. I simply build mostly box stock but I would like to be able to do foil for that added touch. thanks again

Along with patience and a new blade , it does take a little practice so don't give up it doesn't look as good as you think it should . Another thing to remember : If you don't like the way a piece looks , remove it and try another piece . Don't worry about wasting any foil , that sheet will last a lot longer than you think !
If you go to the links above you'll learn everything you need to get started !

As Bob said, it's a good thing that you can always do it all over again if you're not happy with the results. I think you don't actually need a new blade every time when you are foiling, but it's a good idea to change it pretty often. I've foiled usually 2-3 cars with the same blade, but not more. This might depend on the blade that you're using, though. Overall it's not that hard...It takes just a lot of patience.

Thanks guys, your advice gave me the push I needed to try it again and I was successful! I foiled a '49 merc and although it was far from perfect, I am generally happy with the results. And I think that within two or three more kits I will have it down. Thanks again, the links really helped.

Kitchen foil is way to thick and it won't stick to the plastic. I recommend BMF
