Hi all here is a kit that has fought me all the way, well not actually the kit, the kit fits perfectly amazingly great fit not had to use a single bit of filler. I did my research before i bought the kit and the PE seats are wrong scale so I bought the right scale from toms hardware (the difference to the ones in the kit is really surprising) and I bought some PE windows from the same place, unfortunately though it says it is, it's not a complete set so all the top deck the ones you can see are just the moulded ones. this was and is my only attempt at PE I absolutely hate the stuff with a vengance.
Anyway back to the model everything was going fine went to put the front mast on but it was bent, never mind bit of hot water sorted that put it on the dining room table and the missus put it away, including putting the lid on the box. you can imagine I hit the roof expected the mast to be snapped but no just bent at right angles, so, hot water very gently and hey presto straight mast again put on the cupboard came in from work and the whole model is on the floor. It moved 18 inches across the top of the cupboard and fell on the floor but no one touched it. this time the mast top was snapped off ( insert swear word here) tried making one out of wire but looked wrong all the same thickness so I suddenly had a brain wave and used the end of a modeling bruch in a drill chuck and tapered to just the right thickness. I defy anyone to tell the difference now any way after a long break as I had got disheartened by now the next time I got it out I tripped going into my model room and split a cup of tea over it @***!!@ so I have gingerly got it out again tonight and here is where I am now
not a great deal to do now but oh how I hate PE I've glued the decks to the hull all there is to do now is the rest of those blooming seats some rigging and some rails round some of the decks,oh and the lifeboat hoists.
