So now my conundrum is which style to build it. Baja Boogey Boy, Radical Rock-crawling Rodger, Sick and Sassy Sixties Sideshow slick-wearing Scooter of the 1/4 mile, Slam-sandwch Street Scraper.... Hmmm.....

Just delivered by UPS from Holland, 4 Shapeways 3D printed, TRAX or two pairs as is the case, in 1/24-1/25 scale in white stiff plastic. I can now try to find the vehicle to fit them to, be it a Jeep, Smart Car or Meyers Manx! What a clot! These are upside down! The largest wheel in the pack is the one that is the driven wheel from an axle!

Found this at my local Salvation Army Thrift Store, saw the price, and quickly snatched it up when I opened the box and saw the plastic still not opened from the parts trees and the decals (uncut, un-yellowed). And... Two Dollars and Ninety-Nine CENTS?!!!! MINE!

Today for my 75th, our youngest son (52) bought me this.. As I already have one and built it in Rothmans style decals, I've ordered some Bastos decals, used in the Belgian Rally Champs at the same period.

A 1979 Matchbox-AMT VW Golf kit.. As it has side panels to depict a Delivery Van, I'm most likely to go that way.

Does "metalized parts" mean chrome or is the chrome actually metal?

Does "metalized parts" mean chrome or is the chrome actually metal? I've looked through the parts today and washed it all. I can only image that it means 'chrome plated'.

Again, ebay UK has found me another Tamiya Scooby 2005 WRC, bought as 'used' but the body is in white! Not the normal factory metallic blue moulding, so may be built totally different!

Does "metalized parts" mean chrome or is the chrome actually metal? It means the "chrome" plastic that we're used to in model kits.
TMI but here is more: Sometimes the kit manufacturers have to or want to follow some legal description such as "metallized" because that is what the parts actually are. What we see as chrome contains no chromium and isn't actually plating either. Instead, it is electro-deposition of aluminum (but it looks like chrome plating) also called metallized. Real chromium is a toxic material that is restricted by all/most/some governmental jurisdictions for health and/or pollution reasons, especially on toys (which model kits are sometimes considered to be for importing/selling reasons).
